Subreddit Rules
- No Spamming: Please do not:
- Spam current/FUTURE Kickstarters * Spam Twitch/Youtube Channels * Spam Game Play Sessions, Purchases, Collections, Questions, etc
- Frequency Matters* Once/twice a month is ok depending on content. Once every few days/hours is not. Consolidate multi-parts to one post. Weekly depends on how similar, content popularity, and how much interaction w/ the sub exists. 2x a week can be too much.
- If a creator-state this! Don't vote manipulate/have others advertise for you.
- Solo-relevant: Your post **must** be related to solitaire play and about an actual physical board game.
- Just because a board game *can* support solo play isn't enough. A digital app w/ roots in board games isn't enough. No Tabletop Simulator, BoardGameArena, Digital App threads, helper apps, 3D Print Ads. (Naturally in conversation/comments is ok).
- Playing against yourself (example: chess) can sometimes be discussed but isn't considered in the spirit of solo gaming, otherwise ALL games are solo game.
- Put the FULL name of the game in the title (No Abbreviations) (No Low effort titles): Please include the board game’s full name in the POST TITLE whenever posting a photo, video, link, or discussion about a game. Ideally, the game name should also be visible in the thumbnail or mentioned near the start of the video.
- Effort: Do not use abbreviations for game titles. If collection say it's a collection, no clickbait, etc. A user shouldn't have to click into a post to understand what it's about.
- First offenses usually get a friendly warning, maybe removed, depending when found.
- Be Nice: This doesn't really need an explanation we hope... but please be nice and respectful to other redditors. Keep it friendly. This is a subreddit for all ages so please keep posts somewhat above water, no cursing in posts, especially titles. Comments are a little more free for all. Failure to do so could lead to a ban.
- No retail, selling, trading, or soliciting posts
- retail sales posts (use /boardgamedeals instead).
- You may talk about other places to sell/trade but do not post/solicit directly or advertise on this subreddit. Places banned include BoardGameGeek Market, Ebay, Local Facebook Groups, Stores etc.
- Note: You may do so very limitedly in the comments if it happens to come up naturally in conversation. Do not frequently spam about trading or selling otherwise we will apply this rule.
- Repeat offenses of this rule will result in a ban.
- Youtube/Kickstarter/Marketing/Social Spam
- low-effort promos or drive-by posts/xposts.
- Do not copy/paste Instagram, Twitter/X, Bluesky, etc. content here. Make a post for this community
- link-in-bio/aggregator pages.
- Blasting the same content across communities without engaging is spam and may result in a ban.
- You may promote yourself =ONCE= per sale, Kickstarter, release, Etsy project, etc. Disclose that it’s yours, keep it infrequent, and interact on your post.
- No “I’m live” or unboxing posts. Let’s Plays: once a month.
- Subreddit Casually Enforced Rules: See the sidebar for more details. There are a number of casually enforced rules that may get your post removed. Due to character limitations, they can't all be posted here.
- #bbbathysphere - Submit to the general discussion thread only!
- Selling or trading used games in comments is allowed with strict infrequency (once in a while, naturally in conversation).
- If you only submit your content and never interact with our sub, we may also consider this spamming.
- Don't use abbreviations in title.
- AI-Generated Content and Crowdfunding: Crowdfunding games must show real gameplay not just a concept when AI use is suspected..
- Posts should include genuine human demonstrations, such as someone playing a prototype, TTS mod, or non-ai detailed explanations showing how the game works.
- Extreme or mostly AI-generated promotional content may be removed if it does not show enough evidence of a functionally designed game. Using AI alone is NOT a violation, but low-effort posts but it's level of use may be treated like spam in some cases.
