Subreddit Rules
  1. Don't be a dick.: Don't be a dick. Simple as that. Harassment, racism, sexism etc etc etc (I shouldn't have to list out every possibility) will not be tolerated.
  2. Advertising is not allowed.: Advertising (which includes self promotion of other accounts, channels, new business ideas etc.) is not allowed and will be removed with very, very few exceptions. If you have a question about it, message the mods before posting.
  3. Spam is not allowed.: This can include but is not limited to: -Posting the same post in multiple subs consecutively, -posting multiple times in quick succession (within hours or a few days; if you have multiple photos to discuss in a short period either from several trips at once or one long trip, roll them into an album for one post), -redirecting to a personal blog, -clickbait titles videos or pictures -multiple accounts -looking for buddy posts etc.
  4. If in doubt, ask before posting.
  5. Add constructive discussion.: Add constructive discussion. This sub is not meant to be a primarily one sided place, such as cert card posts or images with no description or discussion. This also includes loaded questions, excessive trolling, and similar.
  6. Posts must be about SCUBA: Posts must be about self contained underwater breathing apparatus, including both open and closed circuit scuba. For example, freediving, spearfishing, surface supplied commercial diving, Fish ID etc. should be posted in their respective subreddits unless the focus of the question or post involves scuba directly.
  7. Gear discussion or recommendation posts, read previous posts or give extensive info.: If you are considering buying new gear, or switching gear around or similar, PLEASE search for and read previous posts. We get "should I buy X computer or X camera" so often it hurts. If your search for previous posts doesn't turn up what you want, be as SPECIFIC as possible in your questions and details, to give a better idea of why your situation is unique and what considerations must be taken.
  8. Reports and removals will all be done on a case by case basis.: We highly encourage users to report things they believe are wrong, it helps us find things. However, not every report will be acted upon if we don't believe it breaks any rules. In addition, we may remove posts or comments we feel break rules which you do not. You can message us if you feel this was in error, but it is all done on a case by case basis.
  9. Try to keep conversation on site, when possible.: Sure, there may be times when you want to discuss new research DAN has come out with or something similar, but linking to your tiktok, or (or any) blog that is just opinion pieces and such is discouraged. If you have something you want to discuss, write it out here and engage the community.
  10. No image meme posts.: Image meme posts will be removed without mercy, speared like a lionfish in the Caribbean and left on the reef of removed posts to be eaten by oblivion.
  11. No adverse animal interactions with wildlife: Posts with adverse interactions will be removed. This includes but is not limited to picking up wildlife, grabbing wildlife, feeding wildlife, etc.
  12. No medical posts: If you have medical questions, go to your local physician or call DAN.
