Content that contains personal attacks, derogatory language towards other users, racism, sexism, homophobia, threats, or other similarly toxic content will be removed, regardless of popularity or relevance - and may lead to warnings or bans. We often moderate based on severity and flagrant violations (hate speech, slurs, threats, etc.) will result in immediate bans.

- No spam, ads, or promotional content: Do not post anything that is self-promotional or advertising content, or if you stand to profit from the content in any way (Such as referrals). We have a weekly stickied events thread to share your local businesses or projects.
- Note: Free non-business events are allowed; but will likely be auto-blocked by the automod bot. You can message the mods to unblock it.
- Original content from artists and creators is acceptable, so long as it is relevant, not monetized, and free of promotions and ads.
- Missing Persons/Pets and Lost/Stolen Property: Missing Persons posts are only permitted when accompanied by information from either a local law enforcement bureau or a reputable local news source. For example, a tweet from the RPD or a missing poster shared by the SBI would be ok, but a Facebook post from a friend or family member would not be.
- Lost/Stolen property posts are generally not permitted.
- Posts about missing pets are permitted as long as they include details about the animal including location, description, and ideally a photo.
- Not Triangle Centric: Before posting you should ask yourself, "Does my post belong in /r/Raleigh?" Does the topic have to do with the city or Triangle area?

- Examples of a bad post:
- Charlotte Teacher Arrested For Conduct Violation - Belongs in /r/Charlotte or /r/NorthCarolina
- No Trolling: Trolls make a deliberately offensive or provocative online post with the aim of upsetting someone or eliciting an angry response from them. This is not allowed on /r/Raleigh.
- No Referral Codes or Urls That Benefit OP: This is a complicated rule but easy to enforce. If you are posting a url that has a referral code unique to you or that could benefit a unique account it will be removed. A good example of this would be an Uber referral code where the original poster gets $5 credit for having users sign up using a url + referral code. Even if there's no direct benefit we are taking the stance of not allowing these to be posted here.
- No Buying, Selling, or Classifieds: You may not buy, sell anything. Offering goods or services with no consideration is permitted at the discretion of the moderators.
- Local Business ads and events are allowed in the weekly 'things to do' post's comments. Job postings should look at /r/trianglejobs.
- No Surveys/Research Studies: Please don't post surveys or research studies on /r/raleigh.
- No Crowdfunding, Donations, or other Solicitation: Crowdfunding sites are blacklisted reddit-wide due to the potential for abuse. Crowdfunding and solicitation of donations via payment services (e.g. Venmo or PayPal) are not allowed as well. While we are sure there are many legitimate worthy causes out there, unfortunately, the admins and moderators cannot vet them, so we cannot allow them.
- Don't Post Articles Behind a Paywall: Do not post articles that are behind a paywall, as the majority of our readers won't be able to view them.
- No Pet Adoption Posts: Pet adoptions should only be through shelters themselves. Going around this either encourages puppy mills or for sick people to avoid the checks shelters can do. Reddit is just not the best place to do this sort of thing.
- No Editorialized Titles: Links to articles should be the title from the article. If the site changes the title after the post is submitted, that is fine.
- Any comments regarding said article should be within the comment section itself.
- No NSFW: Pictures/Videos should not contain NSFW content (Porn, gore, vore, snuff, etc)
- Crime Posts: Posts about criminal incidents on reddit should be considered for the purpose of public knowledge (active incidents, disruptions, news events, etc).
- Any post that claims to be witness to a crime, or with accusations of criminal activity must provide a police report, article, or other substantial evidence of the incident in order for it to be considered for approval.
- Contact mods to provide this information privately.
