Subreddit Rules
- 1 - Reddiquette: Follow reddiquette and use your upvotes and downvotes accordingly. Report offensive, low-effort, or spammy posts so the moderators can review them. We expect all users to treat others with respect. Quilters requesting feedback should be treated kindly with useful suggestions and comments to improve their work. Calling a quilt "ugly", demeaning a fabric choice, or name calling anyone in our sub is prohibited and will result in a ban at the moderators discretion.
- 2 - Linking to a Single Image; Linking Original Sources: If linking to a single image link to the image itself and not a blog or tumblr link. See the [tutorial on how to post photos to reddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/1aqu09j/how_do_i_post_pictures/#:~:text=You%20can%20post%20pics%20only,It's%20that%20simple) if you aren't sure how to do this.
- If linking to inspiration you found on a site such a Pinterest, please link to the original source, not a "pin." Reddit auto deletes all posts and comments with pinterest links.
- 3 - Blog Links: For Blog links please refer to reddiquette and be respectful to not spam the sub. If your blog post only shows one or two photos you should use imgur or reddit image posting to make a reddit post to share them. See rule #2 for a tutorial on how to do this. Users that only post links to their blog or website and do not have a history of participating in other /r/quilting posts will be given a warning before they are banned from posting.
- 4 - Giveaway Posts: Giveaway posts are allowed. Tag the post so people know what countries are eligible to enter I.E. - [US] [International] etc. Also put the entry deadline in the title. It should be very clear how to enter the giveaway in your post. The mods appreciate a heads up before giveaways are posted.
- Sales posts or comments : Links to websites for direct sales (Etsy shops, Ebay, Personal Websites, IG Shop) should be kept in the bi-weekly "Steals, Deals and Destash" thread. Check the “Featured” flair for the latest post. You can refer anyone inquiring on your work to that post. This is to keep sales clutter in one place.
- Indirect sales posts or trying to circumvent this rule will result in a ban. New members or Redditors creating sales posts to spam the community will be banned.
- 6 - Patterns under copyright: Sharing or PMing patterns with existing copyright protection is strictly prohibited. - Patterns purchased online or at quilt shops cannot be copied/shared with other users. Users found to be sharing patterns that are copywrite protected will be banned from the sub. Please support your patternmakers by recommending where others can purchase patterns you've enjoyed if asked.
- 7 - Stolen Work and AI Generated Images: Posting stolen work or AI Generated Images being passed off as your work (virtual or real) will result in a permanent ban**. This includes: posting a photo of quilts not your own yet claiming it is yours, posting about a quilt in any form you stole from someone else, or posting stolen patterns or tutorials. We do not allow AI generated images in our sub and encourage you to use other ways to plot/plan quilts. AI Slop posts are strictly prohibited and will result in a permanent ban.
- 8: Posted Projects should be quilting-related, or quilting-inspired: In order to maintain our content focus on *quilting*, we don't allow crafting content that is NOT related to quilting-related things. If you post relevant non-quilt content (pillows, quilted clothing, quilted items that aren't quilts) please use the "Quilted Crafts" flair. If it doesn't involve quilting... it might belong on another subreddit
- 9: Polls: Poll feature may be used for VOTING ON DESIGN OPTIONS ONLY. Low effort/karma farming discussion polls will be removed. Acceptable: which layout do you like? Please vote ABCD. Low effort: are you a pre-washer/starcher/machine vs hand quilter. Etc.
- 10. Homemade Apps/ Market Research/School Projects: Due to the number of requests we get from developers, researchers, product and software engineers we request you not use our sub for free market research and data collection.
- If you’ve made an app for yourself, or quilter mom or grandma and it requires a login for us to use the post will be removed due to security concerns. Paid apps or software for quilters can go into our steals/deals biweekly thread.
- Troll Posts or Comments, Baiting Arguments: Posts or comments trolling our community or its members will be removed at moderator discretion. This includes Redditors with no community karma or negative community karma, meaning you are not a positive participant in our community.
- Comments or posts baiting our community members into arguments will be removed. Abusers of this rule will be banned.
- Gift Idea Megathread: This season we are asking all gift idea/request posts to go in our Megathread - please repost your request there. https://www.reddit.com/r/quilting/comments/1omfc0e/holiday_gift_ideas_megathread/
