Subreddit Rules
- personal attacks, harassment, hate speech, or racism
- nationality or group bashing. Repeat violations will result in a ban.
- This does not mean discussion cannot be had on whatever is the most controversial tourist demographic of the day, but that means discussion, with aims to explain how/why they are controversial not a chance for you to show off how racist, bigoted or just plain hateful you are.
- Phuket Content Only, English or Thai: Posts must relate to Phuket or Phuket-based travel (day trip range like Phi Phi included).
- General Thailand topics go in r/Thailand or r/ThailandTourism. National news needs a clear Phuket angle unless related to visas or travel policy changes.
- All posts and comments must be in English or Thai
- No Advertising
- promotion of any business or service: tours, hotels, restaurants, real estate, visa agencies, transfers, affiliate/referral links, social media self-promotion, or soliciting via DMs. Promotional accounts (which includes people trying to build things like YouTube channels) are banned.
- Recommendations must come from uninvolved users (mod discretion to decide if truly uninvolved or ‘guerilla marketing’).
- Nightlife/Sex Tourism: General Discussion Only: Allowed: areas, general prices, safety, scams, legal context. Not allowed: explicit details of encounters, ‘trip reports’, reviews or recommendations of specific workers or venues, "where can I find…" requests, swingers posts, or advertising of services of a sexual nature. In short, Keep it SFW.
- No Facilitating Illegal Activity
- selling, sourcing or how-to requests for illegal activity: drugs (beyond cannabis), steroids, working without a permit, visa fraud, bribery, gambling. Factual discussion of the law is fine. General discussion of cannabis is fine
- Asking "where can i get illegal drug X ?" will result in automatic permanent ban. Same with responding to such question with a source or things like 'dm me'
- Search First, Low Effort Or Common Posts Covered In The FAQ Will Be Removed: Search the sub and check the wiki before posting. Repeat questions (‘Weather in month X?, "where to stay?") will be removed.
- Standalone questions need specifics: dates, area, budget. For example, "is $XXX enough for 2 weeks?" needs info like, what do you actually want to actually do? Sit on the beach, eat thai street food and nothing else is vastly different budget to party on Bangla every night like a 2 week millionaire. If you want people to put in effort in responses, you need to first
- News Needs A Credible Source And Original Title: Link a credible source (Phuket News, Bangkok Post) and use the original title
- editorializing, rumors, or fear mongering.
- Personal Blogs, Facebook or any other social media is not a valid source unless from an official page/channel like TAT
- Only exception to original title is if title was not in English, accurate translation to English allowed/encouraged
- No Doxxing Or Name-And-Shame
- personal info (names, faces, plates, socials) of private individuals — drivers, landlords, bars, hotels, badly behaved tourists included. Blur identifying details. Only exception to previous is when details enter mainstream media
- Factual business reviews are fine (but be aware of Thai ‘defamation laws’, especially regarding truth not being a defense); harassment campaigns are not.
- Report crimes to Tourist Police (1155).
- Sensitive Thai Topics Are Strictly Moderated: Monarchy, lèse-majesté (Section 112) content is strictly moderated for the safety of users posting from Thailand and the sub's continuity. Keep it factual and Phuket relevant. Risky threads get removed at mod discretion.
- Photos And Videos: This is not the place to show off your holiday snaps or videos, try Facebook, Instagram or Youtube. If more artistic/professional, there are many subs dedicated to such on reddit, this is not one of them
- Any such content will be removed at mod discretion, unless somethings particularly unique about it, you should fully expect such content to be deleted without comment
- No Fundraising, Marketplace, Or Surveys
- fundraising links or money appeals, no buy/sell/rent posts (use Facebook Marketplace, yes its horrible but its where all the buyers and sellers in Thailand are), no ticket resale, no surveys without mod approval via modmail.
