Subreddit Rules
  1. No Looking For Roommates/Sublet/Lease/Broker Posts: This ain’t Craigslist or Ghostlight housing. Don’t come here looking for apartments, sublets, or roommates. We’re here to help with moving advice.
  2. No off-topic NYC questions: This sub is for people moving to NYC. If you're visiting check /r/visitingnyc. If you're looking for the best place to start an improv troupe, you want r/AskNYC
  3. No Self-Promotion: Keep your Airbnb listings, moving services, and other “helpful” sales pitches to yourself. This includes blatant SEO placement. If it doesn’t add value, it’s getting deleted.
  4. No Exclusion/Xenophobia/Hate
  5. "go back to where you came from", "stay where you are, we don't want you", "transplants go home" comments are tolerated here. New York City is for everybody.
  6. No AI/LLM Slop: If you're going to offer advice, it needs to come from a human perspective. LLM prose is pretty obvious, and it's cluttering the subreddit. Repeated use of LLM comments/posts to spam or self promote will result in a permanent ban.
