Subreddit Rules
- Location must be given: Including the location of a moth is required in all posts (meaning where in the world it was found, like what country, state, or town), unless the moth is captive.
- If you want a picture of a moth identified you must include the location of your picture. Posts with no location may be removed or flaired.
- Memes are not allowed: Memes, and comments referring to memes (including 'lamp', 'brother', and 'boye'), are discouraged and may be removed unless they are totally hilarious. Users may wish to post in r/mothmemes instead.
- Be civil: Rude, abusive or unnecessarily negative language is not allowed on this sub. Serious subjects and discussions are fine, but be respectful and tolerant.
- We have zero tolerance for racism, sexism, transphobia, xenophobia, homophobia, or hate speech of any kind.
- Original content only: Original content is strongly preferred. If you post somebody else's image or other content for karma, please acknowledge them with a link or a mention of their name. This includes reposts, or pictures you found somewhere else on the internet. If you don't acknowledge the original content creator, the post may be removed.
- Posts selling t-shirts or other merchandise are usually removed for this reason, so if you do post your own artwork, please ensure you mention you are the original creator.
- No animal cruelty: Posts and comments depicting or encouraging deliberate harm to moths will be removed.
- Images of pinned/taxidermized specimens, or dead moths that died by natural causes, are allowed.
- Promotions: Posts promoting goods that are, or could be, for sale (including t-shirts, hats, posters, jewellery etc) must be approved by mods first.
- Promotional posts will not normally be approved unless OP is the creator of the content being promoted.
- Unapproved posts will be removed.
- AI: All content generated or modified by AI must be identified with the AI-generated flair. AI images do not need a location given because obviously they won't have one.
- Suggestive content
- NSFW, fetishised, or sexualised content, including sexually suggestive depictions of moths. Posts should focus on real moths or creative appreciation of them.
