Subreddit Rules
- Don't be too edgy: Don't be racist, sexist, ableist, homophobic, transphobic, etc.
- Don't attack people: Don't unironically attack people. This subreddit is for humour, not aggressively shitting on people.
- Long videos must have a timestamp to the good part: Videos over 3 minutes long that are not of a satirical/humorous nature/intent should be posted with a timestamp link in order to highlight the specific point of the video you want to call out. Don't make us sit through several minutes of boring dialogue to get to the funny bit.
- Don't make posts that are just "Outjerked Again": By this point we are all well aware that /r/magicTCG and even WotC themselves outjerk us daily. Well what are you gonna do about it? Come up with a better title and outjerk them back!
- Don't post about being banned from MTG communities
- one wants to hear about how you shitposted on /r/magicTCG (MTGSalvation, etc.) and got banned for it.
- No jerking in the Weekly Off-topic Thread
- jerking in the Weekly Off-topic Thread. Offenders get a 7-day ban
- Posts must be related to MTG or another MTG site: Posts must be related to MTG or another MTG community (another MTG-related subreddit or another MTG site such as MTGSalvation).
- This is a "circlejerk" subreddit, but if your post is so generic that it has nothing to do with Magic, it will be removed. Post like that belong on /r/circlejerk itself.
- If your post *seems* generic, but you're parodying a specific post from an MTG source, please include a link to the source in the text of your post (if a text post) or a comment (if a link post).
- Posts should make an attempt at humor: If you must post about ongoing drama, at least try to make it funny
- Don't post using banned post formats: Don't post...
- - Something that starts with "<--"
- - "If this post gets X upvotes, I will post again but double thing". These posts are repetitive, have greatly diminishing returns on humour, and clog up the subreddit. Exceptions MAY be made for posts that are on-theme with doubling (e.g., Krenko) and start at a relatively high initial upvote number (e.g., 1000).
- - "It has been X days since Splinter Twin was banned from Modern"
- - "Which one of you did this?"
- Don't post /r/freemagic content here: Don't link to, or post screenshots of, the freemagic subreddit
- Don't post low effort, overused memes: For topics that have been posted about a lot, you should ensure you're providing something particularly clever or fresh to the table.
- Examples of what not to post:
- - Karn's face lazily photoshopped on to a new card - Replacing random card text with the text of Colossal Dreadmaw - Copying someone else's joke but tweaking it slightly, like when everyone was posting random red and blue objects and titling the post "[ELD] The Royal Scions"
- Don't post AI-generated memes: "AI-generated memes" means using a large language model such as ChatGPT or Midjourney to generate an image or text for the purposes of creating a meme. Jerking about an AI-generated post from the community at large is OK.
