Posting Requirements & Restrictions
Subreddit Rules
- Minimum length required.: Nails must have a free edge that is a *minimum* of ⅓ the length of your nail bed in order to be considered "long". If your nails do not meet these requirements, your post will be removed. **This means before/after posts with short(er) nails are not permitted.**
- For those with especially short/long nail beds, it will be up to moderator's discretion if your nails are long enough.
- We will have a separate day to post for those who don't meet our requirements coming soon.
- No overlays; acrylic, polygel, sculpted/hard/builder gel, dip, etc. Lacquer or gel polish only.: This subreddit is for long, natural nails. **Overlays are not considered "natural", and are not permitted here.** This includes nails that have been grown out with an overlay, even if they're bare at the time of posting.
- Using an overlay to patch a broken nail is allowed. Using a tip/form to extend a broken nail without shortening the rest of your nails is also fine, as long as the majority of your nails are your own.
- Posts or comments inquiring about overlays will be removed.
- List all products.: You must list all products, either in the title, text body, or a comment on the post within 2 hours. This includes properly spelled brand names and shade names/numbers (**no acronyms or shortened names**), including clear polishes. ***Individual photo captions/bottle shots aren't valid for product lists.***
- For salon manicures, please mention this either in the title, text body, or a separate comment, along with the type of product used.
- Broken nail posts still require a product list.***
- Keep posts high-quality, including no "cursed" poses.: We don't expect magazine-quality media taken with expensive cameras. Ensure the nails are well-lit (light source behind you, not your nails), centered in the frame (zoom in), in-focus (tap the screen to focus), the lens is clean, and avoid using flash.
- Media that is filtered/edited, too zoomed out, low-resolution, blurry/out of focus, or taken in bad lighting will be removed. We shouldn't have to zoom in to see your nails, and we aren't interested in the back of your hand.
- #No "cursed" poses.
- No medical topics or asking for/giving medical advice.: Posts and comments regarding medical topics will be removed, ***including any mention of allergies or health issues***.
- We are a hobby subreddit, not a place for diagnosis.** Asking for or giving medical advice of any kind is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to questions such as:
- > What supplements should I take?
- > Is this an allergic reaction?
- > What’s wrong with/how do I fix my nails?
- > Why are my nails this color?
- > Should I see a doctor?
- > Is this normal?
- Stay on-topic.: All posts/comments must be related to long, natural nails.
- Any posts that could be used to show off other objects (body parts, cars, children, pets, etc.) will be removed, and you will likely receive a warning.
- Please keep comments relevant to the community.
- No NSFW content.: Posts/comments that are NSFW in nature are prohibited.
- This includes, but is not limited to: fetish content (discrete or not), sexual posts/comments, use of drugs/cigarettes/vapes/alcohol, self harm, media taken while operating vehicle, etc. *You do not need to comment that you think OP's nails are sexy.*
- The ONLY exception is NSFW nail art, which requires an NSFW flair.**
- No unsolicited messages.: Do not send members unsolicited messages. If you can't say it in a comment, you shouldn't be saying it.
- Anyone found breaking this rule will be banned** ***without warning.***
- If you receive an unsolicited DM, please send us a [ModMail](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=r/longnaturalnails). We ask that you include a direct link to the account(s) for accuracy. If you wish to provide screenshots, you'll need to post them (temporarily) to your profile or use an image hosting site.
- No NSFW/Fetish Activity.: There is a ban on all posts and comments from accounts with NSFW/fetish subreddit affiliations, as well as accounts that have a history of utilizing Reddit for marketing purposes. Posts and comments left in SFW subreddits that are remotely sexual or fetishistic in any way are also included in this.
- No photo/videos from within a vehicle.: Regardless of whether you're parked or you're a passenger, we do not allow media taken within a vehicle. Why, you ask? Well, some people believe that taking pictures of their nails is more important than paying attention to the road. This is why we can't have nice things.
- Any photos or videos taken within a vehicle will be removed.
- Be respectful.: Our community is here for supporting and appreciating long, natural nails, no matter the person's skill level.
- Be kind when giving constructive criticism. Don't comment anything that's needlessly rude, or hurtful. Name-calling, rude comments, or general bad attitudes will not be tolerated.
- Do not engage with trolls. Report them to the Mod Team.
- If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.**
- Give credit where it's due.: Posts with media that's not yours **must have direct credit to the original artist** in your post title, text body, or comment.
- "I found it on XYZ" is not sufficient credit. If the original artist used a watermark, *you* must give credit as the person posting. Posts without proper credit will be removed.
- Pinterest is no longer a valid source for credit.***
- If you can't find the original artist to credit, you can't post their content. It's that simple.
- No self-promotion for financial gain.: Members are permitted to post using products they've received as PR, so long as there are no links to social media, affiliate links, etc. Be sure to include a disclaimer regarding your relationship with the brand.
- Your post’s removal/punishment is up to moderator discretion.: Please inquire via [ModMail](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=/r/longnaturalnails) with any questions, suggestions, or concerns about this subreddit. Additionally, any concerns with moderation should be discussed via ModMail, and any comments about this will be redirected to modmail. Any moderation action taken towards you is private and is not to be discussed in public. Remember, removals are never personal, and occasionally in error, so **polite** inquiries may be answered in kind.
