Subreddit Rules
- Please be kind, courteous, and supportive even if someone isn't being that way to you.: Our first and most important rule is that we be kind, courteous, and supportive with each other. Even (and maybe especially) people that aren't being kind to us. If someone is breaking this rule, please don't reply, use the report button and we'll sort it out. Remember that you're here to actively inspire people toward success, yourself included.
- Please do not discuss tolerance breaks, moderation, or an intention to return to smoking.: This subreddit is for people who have made the decision to quit, not for people who are taking breaks, cutting back, trying to control their use, or otherwise intend resume or continue.
- If you haven't made the decision to quit for good yet that's fine, you're still welcome here, we just ask you to read and not participate until you've decided what's right for you.
- Please don't participate if you've smoked today.: If you've smoked today you are still welcome here, we just ask that you not post or comment.
- Little, if any, authentic progress can be made when you're high, and it's better for our members to not interact with someone who is high.
- We don't want to put you off posting or quitting though -- your head seems to be telling you the right answers. Please follow through with a post when you haven't smoked.
- Share your own experience and resist the urge to tell others what theirs should be.: We understand that quitting can form some pretty strong opinions on what stopping is all about, how we got here, and what we need to do to get free.
- But the best way to communicate those ideas is to present *your* experience, not tell others what their experience or actions should be.
- Make sure your posts and comments are from the perspective of "this is how I felt" and "this is what I did," in other words, *keep it about you,* and people will take the lessons they need from what you share.
- Please no posts or comments about general anti-cannabis sentiments, other smokers, or legalization.: As it says in the sidebar, we are a pot-positive community. The only problem we have with cannabis is that it isn't right for us.
- Posts opposing or demonizing weed in general, insulting people who are still choosing to smoke, or about general social issues or legalization are off-topic for us.
- If other smokers or outside issues are affecting your sobriety you are welcome to talk about that, but *keep it about you.*
- Please no discussions of other drugs, CBD, supplements, or any remedies other than mutual support.: We sharply limit discussions of other drugs and supplements.
- You can refer to four broad categories -- "prescription medications," "non-prescription medications," "other drugs," or "supplements." Please do not recommend anything to others. If in doubt, just say "see your doctor" and let the doctor take it from there.
- This rule is entirely at the moderator's discretion. For more clarification, please see this post: https://redd.it/lu019v and this comment: https://redd.it/s3ior5
- We only allow text posts, and recommendations of resources outside the group will likely be removed.: Outside resources can be informative or inspiring, but it's better to talk about your personal experience and inspiration in your own words.
- The only thing we want to hear about is you, and on that topic you're the world's foremost expert.
- (Addendum: If they're about you, why no vlog posts? For practical reasons. Nothing in them is indexed, so none their wisdom is searchable in the future, and the mods just don't have time to watch them.)
- These rules are just guidelines to help you anticipate what is usually removed.: While we do our best to address the most common issues in these rules, the moderation team has full and final discretion over what is appropriate for the group and what is not, even if they are not explicitly listed here.
- Moderators are here to keep this a happy, focused, and productive place, please be patient with them and let them do their job even if you may not agree.
