Subreddit Rules
  1. Posts must relate directly to Kansas City: Posts must be about Kansas City or the [KC metro area](https://censusreporter.org/profiles/33000US312-kansas-city-overland-park-kansas-city-mo-ks-csa/) (MO + KS). National topics are allowed only if there is a clear KC angle (local impact, local people, local events).
  2. Don’t be hateful. Don’t be rude. Don’t be a jerk.: Keep it neighborly, KC. We’re here to talk about our city, not tear each other down. This place only stays welcoming when conversations stay civil. Bigotry, hate speech, racism, dog‑whistles, personal attacks, insults, harassment, bullying, baiting, and slurs aren’t allowed. Trolling, antagonizing, slap‑fighting, and derailing threads will also be removed. Any posts, comments, or behavior that break this rule fall under a zero‑tolerance policy and may result in a permanent ban without warning.
  3. Follow Reddit’s site‑wide rules and Reddiquette: In addition to playing by Reddit's [site-wide rules](https://redditinc.com/policies/reddit-rules), We also follow [Reddiquette](https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/205926439-Reddiquette), the informal guideline for how to behave on the platform. Do not threaten, encourage, or glorify violence on Reddit. Do not engage in spamming, sharing personal information, or illegal content/activities. Click the links to familiarize yourself with Reddit's policies.
  4. Search for answers before posting FAQs (especially about housing, visiting, things to do, or food).: Please search for answers to FAQs before making a post. Most posts related to housing, visiting KC, entertainment, or places to eat are removed without notification because they are FAQs that have been answered. Housing questions go in the Sunday megathread. Visitor and entertainment questions go in the weekend megathread that appears on Thursdays. Be detailed and specific when posting a query or your post will be considered low effort and removed.
  5. Post buying/selling ads to /r/kclist and employment ads to /r/kcjobs.: Posts related to selling and trading will be removed. Posts and comments related to drugs, sexual hookups, or anything illegal will result in an instant permanent ban.
  6. No crowdfunding requests or surveys.: Posts about crowdfunding/fundraising and survey requests are generally not allowed and will be removed. If you have a specific request related to fundraising or surveys, please check with the mod team to see if it can be included in the sub. Posting news stories that contain links to fundraising or surveys are fine. Comments containing applicable information in response to requests for information about fundraising and surveys are allowed.
  7. Do not post anything containing personal information. You will be permanently banned.
  8. doxxing (revealing personal and/or confidential details about people) or posts seeking personal information. As a general rule of thumb, posting a photo that happens to include an image of a license plate is fine. Posting a photo with a visible license plate and a call to action like *get this asshole* or a traffic related rant that includes personal information is not fine. The latter will be removed.
  9. No spam or duplicate posts.: Irrelevant, inappropriate posts shared multiple times simultaneously across several subreddits/threads are spam & will be removed. Be mindful of self-promotion. Don't flood the community with promotional comments/messages. Posts & comments about your local events, restaurants, art, and more are allowed—just not daily. Be thoughtful. We encourage users to add events to the Weekend Mega Thread. Duplicate posts about the same topic are not allowed unless it significantly adds to the conversation.
  10. No low effort posts, baiting, or altered/sensationalized news headlines. Use the appropriate flair.: Do not significantly change or sensationalize headlines on news articles. Use the unaltered article headline as the title when submitting news links. We encourage everyone to post good stuff and use flair. Low effort posts do not engage the community and will be removed. See [Reddiquette](https://www.reddit.com/wiki/reddiquette) for details about low effort posts. Use the appropriate flair on posts. The 'News' flair is for links to articles or stories from reputable news sources.
  11. Contact the mods for help related to AMAs, missing posts, spam, or inappropriate posts.: If you think your post has disappeared, see an inappropriate post, or have a question, please contact the mods through /r/kansascity [modmail](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2Fkansascity), we're happy to help.
  12. Please do not send sub queries/rants to moderators' personal mailboxes and avoid posting such comments in threads. The mods volunteer their time to help keep this community thriving, so be respectful and refrain from threatening or harassing members of the team.
