- Direct sales are not allowed.
- No Valuation / Authentication: Absolutely NO valuations. Posts asking how much your piece is worth, if something you found for sale is a "good deal" or "worth it", or "how much would X cost?" will be deleted.
- Posts asking to authenticate pieces ("Is this real gold/silver/Tiffany/Cartier, etc?") are not permitted. This is not something that's possible to do over the internet. Please take your item to a reputable jeweler, in person. Heavy emphasis on "reputable".
- No Stone Identification: Posts asking to identify gemstones are not allowed in this sub. Please direct your questions to r/Gemstones, or take your piece to a reputable jeweler or gemologist.
- Hallmark and/or General Identification: Posts asking to identify hallmarks/maker's marks, or general information like style/ era/ age are permitted, but your posts MUST include CLEAR photos of any hallmarks, as well as clear photos of the entire front and back of the piece. If the hallmarks are small, download a magnifying app on your phone or take pictures through a magnifying glass or jewelry loupe. Good lighting and a white background are best for getting clear photos. If your photos are blurry, your post will be removed!
- "Help Me Find X" Type Posts: If you are looking for a specific piece or type of jewelry, you may post it here asking for help to find it ONLY AS A LAST RESORT. Your post MUST include what efforts you have put in to try and find the piece yourself, or it will be removed. A simple image search for what you're looking for is often all that's needed, don't be lazy. Or just post in r/helpmefind or r/findfashion instead!
- Missing Context and Low Effort Posts: If your post is missing crucial context, like photos or a description of what your post is about, it will be removed. If your post is something that could be answered by a simple search in the sub, Google or reverse image search, or if it's easily answered by looking through our [Jewelry FAQ](https://www.reddit.com/r/jewelry/about/wiki/faq/) page, it will be removed.
- Posts Must Be Jewelry Related: If your post does not include a picture of or a question focused on jewelry, it will be removed. Comments on the jewelry owner or wearer are not permitted.
- Dupe, Counterfeit, Replica, and Other Unethical Practices or Content: It's not allowed. Don't post it, don't ask how to do it or where to buy it, and don't recommend it. Jewelry creators are artists, and stealing or replicating other people's creative content is wrong. Scamming people is wrong. Get a real job. Breaking this rule will result in an automatic permanent ban.
- No “What color metal fits my skin tone?" or "Is this piece too (insert gender here)?” Type Posts: r/jewelry is a sub for jewelry appreciation, not for color analysis questions. Please post these questions to r/coloranalysis.
- Similarly, while there are certain gender norms that have been around for eons, we here at r/jewelry do not believe jewelry has a predetermined or inherent gender. Please direct these types of questions to r/malefashionadvice or r/femalefashionadvice.
- Reposting stolen content. : Stealing content from other members and reposting as your own = automatic lifetime ban.
- Mod Discretion: Moderators reserve the right to remove any content at their discretion that doesn’t align with the spirit and guidelines of the community, even if it doesn’t directly violate specific rules.
