- This includes off-topic posts and photo posts. Posts about sales or links to external shops (Amazon, eBay, B&N, etc.) will be considered spam. r/HorrorLit is not a marketplace or a billboard.
- SELF-PROMOTION: Self-Promotion is strictly prohibited outside the monthly thread. The Original Content Thread occurs on the 1st and lasts until the end of the month. Self-Promotion includes but is not limited to any link to a blog, subreddit, YouTube channel, or website featuring the poster. If self-promotion is posted outside the monthly thread the post will be removed and the user banned until they reach out to the mods.

- H.P. Lovecraft Policy: H.P. Lovecraft was a well-documented and irrefutable racist. Even for the time his views were considered extreme. Lovecraft’s racism is inseparable from his work and informs the very foundation of his brand of horror. r/HorrorLit acknowledges Lovecraft’s place, influence, and legacy within the genre but does not lionize him instead we strongly rebuke and condemn his bigotry which has no place in our community now, then, or ever. This is our official stance and is not subject to debate.
- Generative AI Policy: r/HorrorLit is firmly opposed to the use of generative AI in creative endeavors. Gen AI does not exist in a vacuum, outputs can only be generated by plagiarism and theft of already existing work. Gen AI creations are not allowed in our monthly Original Content & Networking thread nor on our yearly release list.
