Subreddit Rules
- Advertising: In general, we don't allow the advertising of third party services and/or job postings in such a way that a post or comment contains no substance to it other than the advertisement.
- For example, if you're answering someone's question and plug something you work on/have done (even if it's paid) in order to actually help someone, that's absolutely allowed.
- What's not allowed is drive by comments or posts whose sole purpose is to advertise for a third party business.
- Blog Spam: In general, we don't allow third party blog spam on this subreddit. This subreddit is very human focused, and if you'd like to discuss a blog post you wrote, you must solicite active feedback and be engaged.
- For example, if you post a link to a blog from a reddit account named "TheEnterpriseBlog" and your blog name/website is "The Enterprise Blog", your post will probably get removed.
- Exam Dumps: Do not post screenshots, texts, links to, or otherwise the answers to GCP certification exams (colloquially known as "exam dumps"). Doing so will result in an immediate and irreversible ban.
- Blockchain, NFT, and Crypto Coins: Blockchain and crypto are generally predatory in nature and advertising your coin, crypto technology, or blockchain offering will result in a ban.
- Incomplete/Low Effort Posts: All posts must have some sort of substance and form to them. One line questions or fragments will be removed.
- For example, if you post simple questions with no text explaining your process, what you've tried, etc, your post may be removed. Example post titles may include:
- What database do I use for PHP? * Should I get a Cloud Cert? * How do I use GCP?
- Remember: when posting, include some context and information so that we can follow along.
- Kindness and Respect: It's okay (and encouraged!) to have your own opinions and frustrations, even when they put Google Cloud in a negative light.
- It is not okay to cross that boundary into personal attacks or otherwise make others feel unwelcome. This includes, but isn't limited to:
- Calling someone names * Insulting someone * Attacking someone's character * Insinuating someone is "dumb" for not knowing what to do * Telling someone to "leave" or invalidating someone else's thoughts by attempting to push them out.
- No Selling (or buying!): You may not sell products, services, vouchers, and similar offerings directly to our users.
- You may not purchase exam vouchers, keys, and other software licenses from users via posts on this subreddit.
- AI Generated Responses: AI generated responses, such as from ChatGPT or Bard are allowed on /r/googlecloud. However, all responses must be factual and correct: all documentation and steps to resolve an issue must work exactly as described, and all code samples must compile and run, and must have the desired effect to aide a user in /r/googlecloud.
- A violation of this rule will get your post removed. Repeated violations will result in a permanent ban.
- Surveys and Questionnaires: Surveys and questionnaires are not allowed on /r/googlecloud unless it's meta-related, i.e. should this subreddit do XYZ, etc.
