- Guidelines On Asking For Help (READ THIS): If you are here for help or health advice, please refer to the pinned post before making your own post. Including information like temperature, diet, and FAMACHA score up front will assist us in helping you faster.
- All posts must be goat related.: This subreddit is about livestock. All posts must be about goats. We do not allow posts regarding Goat Simulator, the movie Goat, people who are considered GOATs, etc.
- Keep information quality high.: To assist in ensuring this subreddit can provide quality information to goat owners seeking advice, posts may be removed if they contain husbandry or goat care information that is outdated, not in general practice, contradicted by farming or veterinary literature, or cannot be sourced. If we see something we find suspect, you'll be asked to provide a source before your comment or post is removed.
- No animal sales, product sales, fundraisers, or self promotion of any kind.: Direct sales of animals is currently prohibited, but asking for reliable breeder recommendations is permitted. Please do not excessively link to your own Youtube channel or other social media account, our userbase is not here to drive traffic to you
- fundraising or GoFundMe links, no exceptions.
- No posts depicting animal cruelty. : This means that no, we don't want to see that Tiktok of a person forcing a goat to smoke a cigarette. Please note that this is not a vegan subreddit and descriptions of eating meat and dairy products is not construed as "cruelty" here.
- Be kind to one another.: Do not be crappy to other users. This is a subreddit where people come to ask for help with their sick animals in stressful situations. If you are repeatedly rude or unnecessarily nasty, you may receive a temporary or permanent civility ban. There is a zero tolerance policy for making jokes on help posts.
- No low-effort posts or comments: Do not comment "call a vet" with no additional information on posts seeking first aid or diagnostic help. These comments are unproductive and will be removed. Our pinned post already advises getting a vet - and sometimes there isn't time for a vet! Advising a poster to call the vet is perfectly fine, but your comment should also contain other first aid or diagnostic info.
- Image posts should be original content. Reposted/stolen images with no attribution will be removed and you will be banned.
- No AI-generated text or images: Please use your own words and experiences to help others. AI-generated responses to goat questions are often inaccurate and sometimes actively harmful. We discourage people from using AI for any kind of animal care. If you would like to use external sources in your comment please reference real books, university and state agricultural extensions, and trusted veterinary or industry sites, not AI.
- No politics: Not politics unless it specifically pertains to goats.
