- Self-promotion: If you own a study website or sell study materials and want to advertise them here, tread lightly. State that you are the owner. If you try to act like you just happened to find a great site, you will be banned.
- Use the search bar: Use the search function and read the pinned Super FAQ thread. Many basic questions have been asked and answered before. Look at the top posts and browse to get a handle on the process. Once you have done your research, feel free to reach out for more detailed input. Your first stop should be careers.state.gov, not the "Submit a new post" button.
- Contribute: Contribute. We appreciate people lurking for information. We hope that this subreddit will help you pass the FSOT/QEP/FSOA. However, the best way to make this sub as helpful as possible is to have as many people contribute as possible.
- No Domestic (U.S.) Political Discussion: This subreddit is dedicated to the Foreign Service hiring process, work, and lifestyle. While Administration and Congressional actions may eventually impact Foreign Service employees, only factual posts and comments about existing or newly created administrative policies with a direct impact on Foreign Service personnel are allowed. Speculation, debate, and commentary on foreign policy, proposed policies, potential personnel announcements, or related topics are better suited to other venues.
- Follow the FAM: Specifically, 5 FAM 777 (https://fam.state.gov/fam/05fam/05fam0770.html#M777) regarding social media and 11 FAM 614.1-1 (https://fam.state.gov/FAM/11FAM/11FAM0610.html#M614_1_1) regarding the Hatch Act.
- Use article titles: When submitting a link to an article, please copy the title of the article as the title of your post. You are encouraged to submit your analysis as well as a comment to your post.
- Internship Questions: Internship questions must be posted in the pinned internship super thread. Other internship-related posts will be deleted.
- This is not Trailing Houses: This is not the Trailing Houses Facebook group.
