Contraventions of basic Reddit policies and gross violations of Reddiquette can result in removal of posts and comments, if not temporary or even permanent bans from the sub.
- Keep fish wet! Learn about, practice, and portray proper fish handling techniques.: Become familiar with the principles of Keep Fish Wet (https://www.keepfishwet.org/) and use proper fish handling when practicing Catch-and-Release fishing methods. If you see a post portraying poor fish handling, check first to see if the fish was harvested legally. If not, attempt to educate respectfully rather than denounce immediately. Many novice anglers simply don’t know proper CnR methods, and the objective should always be to encourage their evolution into conservation-minded anglers.
- Create posts with substance!: Simple grip-and-grin fish pictures are appreciated, but providing some details will help to foster discussion and education of others. Note that asking about where a particular fish was caught is viewed by many (not all) veteran anglers as a breach of etiquette; again, spend some time browsing the sub’s older threads to become familiar with the flyfishing community’s vibe.
- No self-promotion or traffic channeling.

- Search first! Try to avoid asking questions which have already been asked a few dozen times.: Use the search feature before asking a question and use historical threads for reference; many questions asked by novices have already been answered many times in the past. If you didn't find what you needed, feel free to create a fresh post.
- Stick to fly fishing topics, and avoid the temptation to spam memes.: In general, stick to fishing topics. Avoid politics and religion unless they’re somehow directly related to the fly fishing community, and use good judgment with those topics. Other subs exist where you can post those hilarious fishing memes; please don't post them here.
