Subreddit Rules
  1. Keep it civil: This is essentially just reiterating Reddit's #1 rule. Discussion should remain civilised within the parameters laid out by the other rules. If you disagree with someone, form a coherent argument that addresses the meat of the matter; do not take to personal attacks and insults. This includes interactions with the mods - if they remind you of a rule, please take a moment to understand objectively what they are saying. FQT is hard enough without us treating one another with disrespect.
  2. Do not directly instruct, advise, or recommend.: Absolutely no giving medical advice here. Doctors with flair on a medical and a science sub may be provided leniancy here, should they desire it (most won't) and it fit in their expertist. If you are not a doctor you may be liable for direct advice you give. Similarly, human psychology handles direct writte instruction weirdly. Thus, content should be given as "What I would do...", "What I found to work...", "Things people find help..." etc., or as discussion of verifiable literature.
  3. No uninvited scaremongering, especially with newcomers: "Scaremongering - Noun - The spreading of frightening or ominous reports or rumours." We aim to be a safe place for all sufferers, focused on enduring and understanding the condition and recovery therefrom. People who come here are largely aware of the possibilities, coming for information, hope and support - NOT horror stories. While discussion of symptoms is key to this, there is a time and a place; remember that many, particularly new floxies, suffer from severe anxiety related to their FQTS.
  4. Keep the sub on topic.: Please don't post about how to treat FQ poisoning by suggesting things that pertain to other diseases. Comments may be allowed in this vein or they may be removed. Unsupported posts that suggest treatment of FQ poisoning by using non-FQ related means (IBS treatment, celiac disease treatment, cancer treatments, etc..) will be deleted .
  5. An exception to this is Fibromyalgia, where FQT is thought by many to commonly be misdiagnosed as Fibromyalgia.
  6. Politics and religion are banned, so too is hate.: Let's all be civil. Any descent into argument about politicised topics or political figures will be removed. We will not allow politics to be a source of contention in this sub.
  7. Religion in most forms falls close to this rule and can be very triggering. Proselytising will not be tolerated and neither will hate. However, we understand that mental health and inner wellbeing are often game changers for floxies so its mention and, if mutually desired, discussion are not implicitly banned.
  8. Solicitation of any kind is prohibited: Soliciting anything that you personally reap the benefits from is not allowed. Solicitation or posting anything related to "pharmaceutical sales" results in an instant ban. Posting to GoFundMe or fundraising sites is not necessarily disallowed and will be scrutinized on an individual basis. We extend this rule very generally to include most explicit mention of product or service brands since there has been an influx of, for example, new supplement providers that have spotted a potential market.
  9. Amazon product links are forbidden.
  10. links to Amazon products. This helps us to enforce the no solicitation rule.
  11. Please no external content: no videos, external blogs, social media, or message boards.: For multiple reasons, but mostly pivoting upon their being impractical from a moderation perspective, video content is banned. Similarly, links and direction to external blogs and message boards, especially where r/floxies rules are not mirrored, will also be removed. There may be the rare exception to this rule (e.g., the EMA hearing on FQT, select informational content), but this is now the default position.
  12. Content should be safe, scientifically defensible and provided with sincerity about its origin.: We live in an age of parroted misinformation. For this reason, we hold relatively high standards for claims about mechanisms, causes and treatments and particularly how they are worded. A lot of what we suspect is not proven and rests upon piecing together other evidence and literature. Claim that appears unsafe, pseudo-scientific, contrary to other understanding or is too bold and sweeping in nature, will be challenged and/or removed. Bold claims should be supportable by peer-reviewed science.
  13. No misleading or misinforming content: In line with
  14. 9, content must as best as possible not only be factually accurate but not misleading. While we would prefer to engage in debate, with the growth of the community, it is becoming impractical to fact-check every post. Nevertheless, we feel it important to defend the integrity of the information provided here, even as we grow.
  15. Respect the subreddit, its objectives, its rules, and its moderators.: In using this community, you agree to honour its mission and abide by the rules laid out. If you rail against them, seek to undermine or subvert them, or if you are rude to moderators for seeking to uphold them, you will be banned from the community as you will have displayed yourself as not wanting it for what it is.
  16. No copy-pasting of large AI generated responses: Don't post large copy pasta from CGPT etc. It is unreliable for scientific resource, often making up references and details, and their length and detail density make them further difficult to moderate and fact check.
  17. Content should be presented in English: Finally, we've hit the point of busy where this gets to be stated explicitly. Pretty self explanatory: I'm English, the sub is essentially English, most of us speak English, posting in not English slows things down for me and limits engagement in your comments. I realise this is somewhat Anglocentric, but you running a Google Translate your end will save time at the receiving end, and maybe you'll be able to better tell if it's failed to accurately do the do. Thank you for your understanding.
