Subreddit Rules
- Check sub resources before posting.: Before posting any questions, please check the Wiki, Tips, and/or Troubleshooting pages under the sub's banner, as your question may have already been answered. Many fermentation questions are commonly posted here, so old posts can also be used as a resource.
- All posts must be fermentation-related.: All posts must include food and/or beverage fermentation in some way. All other posts will be removed.
- Don't be rotten.: Just like rotten ferments, rotten posts/comments will be thrown out. Racist, sexist, homophobic, or other hateful content will be removed. Multiple infractions will result in a ban.
- No unsafe practices or accidental fermentations.: Limited posts/comments about any unsafe practices. This includes, but is not exclusive to: Accidental ferments, using an unsafe jar for pressure, not measuring ingredients, etc. This does not mean that we will take these posts/comments down, but we will have a look, maybe pin a comment, or start a conversation about it and change the flair. Excessively unsafe posts/comments may be subject for removal.
- No graphic pictures.
- graphic/gorey pictures of accidents while fermenting. The exception to this rule are text posts about your incident as a warning so hopefully others don't make the same mistakes.
- Limited self-promotion.: It is great that you have a blog, YouTube channel, Instagram page, business, other group, subreddit, etc....but this is not the place to promote it. Any rare exceptions to this rule must be sought via messaging the mods and receive PRIOR mod team approval before posting/commenting.
- posts or comments including recipes or pictures that have been generated using AI, or that use the help of AI.
- No posts about mold/kahm or asking if something has gone bad.
- posts relating to or asking about unknown "stuff" in a fermentation, or if a fermentation has gone bad. This includes joke posts about kahm or mold. There is now a pinned weekly megathread for these posts as to not try and clutter the subreddit.
- No posts about blue garlic.
- posts displaying/asking about/or discussing blue garlic. It's natural to occur when the pH decreases to a certain amount.
- No medicinal claims.
- posts or comments that promote fermented foods as cures or treatments will be allowed. While fermentation can be a part of a healthy diet and gut biome, this subreddit is not a place for medical advice or unverified health claims.
