Subreddit Rules
  1. No advertising/fundraising: ***Forbidden:***
  2. - any post/comment seeking donations or fundraising - any post/comment not made by an individual; no "corporate" accounts - anything like an advertisement
  3. If you think an exception should be made, send us a modmail.
  4. No surveys or other research: Survey and research posts are not allowed.
  5. No "do I have diabetes" posts: We are not here to diagnose anyone with anything, which includes us being unable to interpret test results, guess if your symptoms could be diabetes related or cause for worry, or if you're at risk for diabetes. We understand you are worried, but we are more likely to do harm than good and can't help in these situations.
  6. You should see a [medical professional](http://www.reddit.com/r/diabetes/comments/10jhdq/do_i_have_diabetes_should_i_see_a_doctor/).
  7. Be civil: Don't say things you wouldn't say in a face-to-face conversation. Avoid gratuitous negativity.
  8. When disagreeing, please reply to the argument instead of calling names. E.g. "That is idiotic; 1 + 1 is 2, not 3" can be shortened to "1 + 1 is 2, not 3."
  9. Please don't insinuate that someone hasn't read an article. "Did you even read the article? It mentions that" can be shortened to "The article mentions that."
  10. Diabetes isn't a competition: People with one type of diabetes aren't superior to people with another type of diabetes. The struggles unique to one type are not comparable to the struggles of another. We're all in the same boat of a chronic illness, let's avoid making things unnecessarily harder by turning illnesses into a competition.
  11. "This is literally just as dumb as saying diabetes isn't bad because it isn't cancer" - u/cascer1
  12. Do not give or request medical advice or a diagnosis: Giving medical advice or diagnosing someone is dangerous since we do not know the full medical situation of our members. It can be more dangerous to follow the wrong advice and diagnosis than it might be to do nothing at all and wait for a doctor to be available.
  13. Please refer someone to a doctor instead of speculating on their situation where possible. If you're seeking advice, please consult a qualified medical professional as soon as possible.
  14. No misinformation
  15. fake cures, supplements, non-medical solutions or similar topics.
  16. No AI based advice/information: While AI tools such as ChatGPT can provide interesting output to play around with, AI tools are incapable of vetting the information they put out as being accurate and factual.
  17. Because the information AI generates has the potential to be wildly false, we do NOT allow posts or comments to utilize AI output as general advice or presenting it as factual information. Doing so may cause serious harm.
  18. AI is here to stay, but that doesn't mean we should blindly trust it with our lives.
