Subreddit Rules
  1. Be kind and remember the human.: Comments that dismiss or insult other users or their craft will be removed. Constructive criticism is greatly encouraged but remember the *constructive* part.
  2. Comments on a user's appearance, especially comments of a sexual nature, will be removed, and the user banned. It does not matter how “complimentary” the comment is. We want this subreddit to be a space where a person’s body is not commented on, no matter the content of said comment.
  3. We are not a buy and sell subreddit.: This subreddit is for sharing crafts or asking advice on how to craft an item. This means questions about:
  4. - whether someone would buy an item - setting up a booth at a sale or similar event - attempting sales - discussing how to price your item - selling language such as commission, sold, for sale, etc. - attempting to use filter bypass techniques to circumvent AutoMod's detection of rule 2 or 3
  5. are not allowed. Refer to a poster's profile if you want to know more about the poster.
  6. We are a no promotion subreddit: Anything that is viewed by our mod team as promotion is subject to removal and possibly a ban. This includes but is not limited to: website links, social media, or shop names either as a post, in a comment, or in the photo description. You may use the flair next to your username. (https://www.reddit.com/r/crafts/comments/n1i70f/adding_your_information_to_your_flair_profile_and/). You may have a small, non-distracting watermark on photos to protect your work.
  7. Blog posts and articles are not allowed unless you are posting a free tutorial directly on your site: Free tutorial means that it doesn't ask for an email address in exchange for access. Blogs must also not have multiple affiliate links.
  8. If you'd like to share pictures of something you've made, you must use an image hosting site (imgur, flickr, etc.), not your blog, personal website, etc.
  9. You may post once every 24 hours: Limit posts to only once every 24 hours. If you have many posts you want to share, either compile an album on a picture hosting site or post subsequent pictures in the comment section of your initial post. More than 1 post a day will be removed.
  10. Posting, deleting, then reposting your posts in order to gain more traction later in the day/week, is seen as spamming and will be treated as such.
  11. You need to significantly alter your craft before posting it again. See rule 7 for more information.
  12. Video links are not allowed as a post. : Either post a picture of your finished craft and link a tutorial in the comments or post a short clip (under 60 seconds) on your post or on an image-sharing site. Short clips are still subject to the no promotion rule. Therefore, they will be removed if hosted on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or any other social media sites.
  13. Any poster that is considered "low effort" will be removed: When we say low effort, we mean users that: -do not leave comments or interact in r/crafts. -post the same link 10+ times to a variety of subreddits with no other interaction. -repost the same image or craft over and over again. Limit posting the same image to once every 6-12 months. -Post mass produced items (that have not been altered) as your own craft. -Dropship crafts. -AI crafts/art. AI is not allowed in this sub. See more about AI in the wiki.
  14. All discussion must remain on topic or closely related to the topic of the thread.: Some off topic chat in the comments of posts, as long as they follow all the rules, is allowed. This means if you have a related story to a craft shown, if you have tried and failed, or succeeded, in making something similar to OP's posts, this type of chat will be allowed. If something has inspired you and you want to have a short discussion of it, this will be permitted. Off topic chat will be removed.
  15. Tag your post with the appropriate flair. Sensitive Content flairs must also be tagged NSFW.: Due to a number of users wanting to filter out certain types of crafts, including politics, please tag your post with the appropriate flair so that posts don't receive unnecessary reports or automatic removals by AutoMod.
  16. Due to many folks filtering Sensitive Content, if you use that flair, you MUST tag your post "NSFW" as well. Sensitive Content flair supersedes all other flair, no matter how applicable others may be. If your post falls under Sensitive Content, please flair it accurately.
  17. Post your content on the correct day of the week if applicable: If you are asking "What do I make with...?" your question should be a post on "Material Monday" and flaired appropriately. If you are posting memes, comics, and similar type of posts, you are only allowed to post on Mondays with the 'Meme Monday' tag. If you are asking "How do I...?" your question should be a posted on Tuesday with the correct flair. You may post a "How do I" question outside of Tuesday if you are asking a high-quality question. Please read the wiki for more information.
  18. The focus of a post is on the craft, not the person or maker.: Please highlight the craft itself and not the person that made it or is wearing it. The craft should take up most of the image or video you share. Pictures of the person that made the craft or is modeling the craft are still very much appreciated, but they cannot be the main focus.
  19. We also do not allow pet photos/videos unless they are modeling a craft made for them or are in the background of a photo/video where the focus is clearly on the craft.
  20. Other: This is to report something and bring moderator attention to it, but it doesn't necessarily break any of the rules listed above. It could be a post that doesn't relate to crafting or something else entirely. Be sure to message us if you use this report option!
