Subreddit Rules
- Follow Wheaton's Law: Keep it civil. Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, dehumanization, discrimination, insulting, trolling, slap-fighting, bullying, etc. are not allowed. Constructive criticism is okay. Personal attacks are not.
- Posts that are found to have been subjected to brigading or which generate an inordinate number of reports may be subject to locking. Additionally, users who frequently demonstrate a pattern of engaging in uncivil conduct are subject to warnings, timeouts, or bans.
- Follow Wheaton's Law (Baltimore): Users who demonstrate a pattern of extreme negativity towards Baltimore or it's residents are subject to ban. User who solely participate in /r/baltimore in order to denigrate the city and/or it's residents without adding substance to the discussion.
- For example, on posts which inquire as to where to live, comments such as "why would you move to Baltimore" and "In The County" (though this subreddit is welcoming to County residents) are not constructive and are not helpful to anyone.
- All posts should be relevant to Baltimore.: Your posts should relate, even if only tangentially, to the City of Baltimore or to Baltimore County.
- Posts that relate to other counties should be posted within their respective county subreddits or within /r/Maryland.
- This is not a hard-line rule. Posts that relate to Glen Burnie, as an example, may be relevant to Baltimore in some cases. We ask that you utilize your best judgement when posting.
- News Articles and Editorials: With particular regard to News Articles and Editorials, threads with editorialized titles may be removed. Keep your views on the topic in the comments.
- Do not lead a thread title with "BREAKING NEWS" or anything similar. In terms of stylistic considerations alone, this looks especially awkward for a thread that is hours old and is still prefaced with "BREAKING NEWS".
- Avoid Reposts: Unless it provides substantially more information than has already been made available, please try to avoid reposting where possible. Examples of more information may be a thread created based on a twitter post for which an article is later made available. If the thread has generated significant traction, please try to contain related posts to that thread. In the event of a megathread related to a topic, all related posts should be made within that megathread.
- Illegal Activity: Posts inquiring about any illegal activity (including the acquisition and/or sale of cannabis) are subject to removal.
- Although cannabis is legal in the State of Maryland for medicinal purposes, it remains illegal for recreational usage at the State level, and it remains a Schedule 1 controlled substance at the Federal level. Accordingly, discussion with regards to how to obtain it should be avoided.
- Posts on how to obtain all other narcotics are absolutely prohibited.
- For Sale/Wanted Posts Not Allowed: "For Sale", "Wanted", and other such posts are not allowed, and should be posted to Craiglist.
- Memes: "Shitposts", "Memes", "Meme Videos", and "Image Macros" are generally not allowed as individual posts as they only clutter the subreddit and are subject to removal. Please try to keep them to the comments only. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis, but it should be generally expected that they will be removed.
