Subreddit Rules
- Help others: Let's keep it simple.
- This is a no BS zone.
- If your comment wouldn't be helpful to the poster, don't make it.
- We're Ad-Free: Do **NOT** recommend or request help finding a non-VSO accredited representative (attorneys/claim agents) OR non-accredited claim representative/claim 'service'. This does include but is not limited to discussion of 'claim sharks' or 'nexus providers'.
- Also, do not self-promote your site, tool, or project.
- Posting links to useful content (videos, blogs, web pages) is not always considered advertising, but posts/comments that we determine to be purely promotional will be deleted.
- No Politics: This is a forum to discuss Veterans Benefits that have been codified, not potential/rumored changes to our benefits. This is also not the place to discuss political matters. Why? Because it inevitably ends up with name calling and other non-productive behaviors - post to r/VeteranPolitics instead.
- Don't doxx yourself, or anyone else: Respect Reddit's tradition of anonymity and don't disclose your information or that of others.
- Please no phone numbers, emails, license numbers, or other contact information.
- This also includes QR codes (the box with black and white squares) on decision letters.
- This rule does NOT apply to private entities such as VSOs or other official agencies.
- EXAMPLE: It's fine to post the VA's phone number, but not an examiner's professional/personal contact information.
- News should only be posted once: Breaking news often gets posted and reposted.
- We all enjoying seeing news posted ONCE, but a dozen posts saying basically the same thing not so much - and this also makes discussion tough, since nobody knows which post to comment on.
- Memes are for Mondays: Please keep the Meme posts to Mondays.
- Get verified if you want to say you work for XXX: If you are a VA employee, VSO, Accredited Claims Agent, etc.
- Your credentials **MUST** be verified via the sub's [Mod Mail](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=/r/VeteransBenefits) **BEFORE** you can claim to be someone of such authority.
- Users who have completed the process will have an appropriate user flair.
- UPDATE: We are no longer verifying attorneys or agents at this time. That said, those who have not been verified are grandfathered, but may not advertise themselves here.
- Keep claim/pay status posts and success story posts to the weekly pinned thread: As status and success stories tend to overwhelm the sub, we find it best to corral posts relating to statuses of claims/pay and success stories to a dedicated thread.
- For a dedicated space for status and success posts please see:
- r/VeteransWaitingRoom
- r/VeteransSuccess
- No Coaching: Coaching is telling someone how to behave, respond, react, etc to get a certain outcome. This is considered fraudulent behavior and is not supported or allowed here.
- No AI: The use of or advertising of AI tools, etc in posts/comments is not allowed. We have found AI resources to be largely inaccurate, misleading, or questionably utilize PII and other sensitive information when used.
