- You can express personal opinions about claim companies, not demand that other users abide by them.: This is to address the issue of Claim Sharks. Yes, there are some predatory companies out there that should be avoided. However, many veterans have had great difficulty with the available options and if they want to use a private company, that's completely their choice, not yours. Demanding that they don't, and spouting anecdotal statements only creates confusion, frustration, and more difficulty for those Vets who are perfectly capable of making the choice to use a private company or not.
- Refrain From Using Profanity: Refrain from using profanity in your posts and comments, for the simple reason that it instantly lowers other users opinions of your intelligence. Profanity is unproductive, and will reduce the importance of the information or experience you're relaying to the forum.
- Be Helpful, and Support Statements You Make with Clickable Links to Official Sources That Confirm.: Try to help others with their VA questions if you can. Don’t post unhelpful or abusive comments. Include a clickable hyperlink citing and supporting any statements you make when providing information about VA laws, rules, and regulations, and processes, etc..
- Pay Companies that Help File Your Claim and Get you an Increased Rating. It's hard work.: Self-filing can be enormously frustrating unless you have all your ducks in a row, know the system, and have C&P Examiners on your side. Many VSO's are burned out from volunteering. They may not always be willing to do the leg work. VA Lawyers often charge an arm and a leg up front. Private companies have connections with Doctors for nexus letters, and can provide personalized assistance to get the rating your deserve. If you agree and sign a contract with them, you're set for life. HONOR IT.
- Provide Links to VA Regulations to Support Your Statements.: All help given on the r/VAClaims reddit page is appreciated. However, when providing an answer we walk the line between what is factually true and what we have heard is factually true from others.
- Links to C.F.R. Chapter 31 and to VA manuals interpreting these benefits and how they're to be awarded, would most likely not be read, because those who post questions need an answer or help for their problem.
- So don't just repeat what you've heard. instead: post, and provide a link to the source.
