Subreddit Rules
- Do not advocate for, promote or encourage self-harm or suicide: Due to the nature of this subreddit, we intend it to be used as a safe space for those who are struggling with their mental health. Memes or other forms of coping are used in order to talk about personal experiences without any form of judgement or harm. Therefore, any content that contains [graphic depictions](https://www.reddit.com/r/TrollCoping/wiki/index/rules/), encouragement, promotion or advocating for self-harm or suicide will be removed and handled appropriately.
- No pedophilia posting/equating fictional material to real CSAM/Harmful philias: Posts admitting to pedophilia directly, perpetrating contact, or seeking out material (CSAM or fictional material) whether regretful or not will be removed.
- CSA victims may continue to post, but may not talk about seeking out material.
- Philias unrelated to Pedophilia will be allowed but under scrutiny and held to the same standard. This involves seeking out harmful content or content mimicking as much - such as Snuff, Bestiality, and anything where consent is not possible.
- Detrimental engagement will not be tolerated: We do not condone incivility such as bullying, hate and harassment - especially if alt accounts or witch-hunts are involved. This subreddit is intended as a space to cope and express pain from personal experiences without judgement or harm but if you are caught causing harm to others, it will be handled accordingly.
- Heated threads where the topic derails into insults, dogpiling or any form of bigotry are not tolerated. If the thread extends into DMs or other subreddits, bans will be provided.
- This subreddit does not condone any form of bigotry : We intend to keep this subreddit a safe and inclusive space for everyone, especially those who may face discrimination or intolerance elsewhere. The LGBTQIA+ community is wholly welcome here and any hateful and misinformed content towards them will not be tolerated. We also do not allow any hate speech regarding race, ability, sex or age – i.e., racism, ableism, sexism and ageism will not be allowed. Those engaging in hate speech will be handled accordingly.
- No Generalisations based on Gender / Sex: This rule is self-explanatory; it came into place after the toxic dispute that occurred during the influx of man vs bear posts. Whilst you are free to vent about your experiences with a certain sex / gender, we will remove any comments containing blanket statements - such as “all/most men / women are violent” - alongside all forms of misogyny and misandry.
- Under no circumstances should you be self-diagnosing or offering a diagnosis to other users : Self-diagnosing can put you at risk due to a lot of misinformation and overlapping symptoms. We highly advise you to speak to a professional about your symptoms. Venting about your symptoms is allowed but labelling them can cause harm or lead to misinformation.
- We encourage users to not make assumptions about a user’s diagnosis, disorder or situation. You do not personally know the user so playing ‘armchair psychologist’ can cause harm. However, relating through personal experience is allowed.
- No anti-therapy propaganda or discouragement of therapy or getting help: 1. Vents surrounding bad experiences with therapists and the mental harm it caused are allowed within the community. However, this does not mean those personal experiences should be used as a scare tactic in order to deter users away from seeking professional help.
- 2. Users who use AI in order to cope should be treated with compassion like any other user. We do not encourage users to use AI as a long-term solution nor do we encourage AI as a healthy or reliable alternative to therapy.
- No extreme religious propaganda against mental health, and no bashing religions as a whole: 1. We understand that many of our users may have religious beliefs and would like to express their faith in solidarity. However, we do not allow extreme religious propaganda (“God / Jesus is all you need”, etc.) as a way to combat mental health topics.
- 2. We also understand that many of our users have also experienced religious trauma or may have distaste towards religion. Posts about personal experiences are allowed but extreme hate will be removed.
- No participating in or inciting subreddit drama, especially not in the form of chain posts: There has been a pattern within this subreddit where users sometimes vent about a comment, a user or a current topic through a post. This often leads to a chain of post responses about said comment, topic, or user, further fuelling discourse or drama.
- We will lock and remove posts of this nature due to it encouraging drama. We prompt users to respond to comments directly or to contact us via modmail so it can be handled accordingly.
- Do not attack the moderators: Whilst moderators are in a position of power, we are capable of making mistakes. We are unpaid volunteers who do this in our spare time.
- If there are any concerns, critiques, suggestions or an issue with a user, contact us through modmail than DMs. This also applies for appeals surrounding warnings or bans. Any hostility, hate or harassment can absolve any solution. **If you are contacting us about your submission**, please wait 24 hours before doing so. It was most likely caught in a filter.
- Original content is encouraged, not reposts: Please try to create your own memes or another form of coping rather than re-posting screenshots or videos of other people’s tweets / posts. This way we can prevent bots and karma farmers from spamming this subreddit. Reposts and Screenshot based posts will be removed. We may ask for proof of ownership if you claim to be the original content creator. However, reposts of someone else’s personal vent will result in a permanent ban.
- Other Reasons: We’ve tried to cover most prohibited topics or instances where content would be removed above. However, there are times where a moderator may use their discretion in order to keep the community safe and on-topic. If your content has been removed or you have been banned for an unspecified reason, please read [this list within our wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/TrollCoping/wiki/index/rules/#wiki_other_reasons)
