- No Lyric-Only Posts: We want you to bring your words and music together. That is why lyric-only posts need to contain musical elements, such as a chord progression, a melody, a beat, etc. Lyric-Only Posts can go into the dedicated weekly thread pinned at the top of the subreddit.
- No "Is Using AI Cheating?" Posts (Asked & Answered): The broad question of ethics surrounding the use of AI tools is a thorny question, one that has been debated to death over the last few years, and generally ends in acrimony. If you are looking for other people's opinions, please consult the FAQs.(https://reddit.com/r/Songwriting/w/faqs).
- Questions which address AI use in a genuinely new way may be occasionally permitted, but "Is AI cheating?" is now considered "Asked & Answered."
- No Covers / Remixes: Covers are not allowed in this community. This include reharmonization or rewriting lyrics.
- Correct Flair Tags Required: Correct flair is required on all posts
- "Feedback Request" is for sharing work-in-progress. Audio/video is required.

- As the goal of this subreddit is to encourage songwriters of all skill levels to share human-made musical art and develop their creative faculties, AI runs counter to this end.
- No Social Media: We don't allow links to social media profiles / content from social media (eg. tiktok videos).
- No Links Without Context/Conversation: If you're sharing a video or article as a resource, please get the conversation started -- tell us what is useful, noteworthy, or why we should care. Video links without any context will be removed.
- No "Am I The Only One?" Posts: No "Am I The Only One?"-style posts. There are eight billion people on Earth, and whatever you're doing, you're not the only one. Find a more interesting way to get the conversation started.
