Subreddit Rules
- No turds in the punch bowl: If you can't say something nice or helpful to someone who's looking for feedback, advice, or guidance, don't say nothin' at all.
- Be kind to one another: Sexism, racism, ableism, threats, harassment, and doxxing are grounds for a ban depending on the severity of the offense.
- No breed hate: This is a community for pit bull owners who are here to advise and support one another. This is not a forum to promote hatred or advocate violence towards any breed of dog.
- Avoid spreading misinformation: This includes, but is not limited to: "Pit bulls were nanny dogs", "Pit bulls have locking jaws", "Pit bulls are vicious", Pit bulls shouldn't be around children", "Pit bulls score highest in temperament tests", "APBT aren't genetically predisposed to dog aggression".
- No posts displaying or encouraging irresponsible ownership.: This includes, but is not limited to: allowing a child to pester a dog, not using a leash outdoors (unless in a designated off-leash area), allowing dogs to harass other animals, dog antivax posts.
- No BE-shaming or rehome-shaming: BE, or behavioral euthanasia, is a difficult decision for every dog owner who has had to make such a choice. Regardless of your personal position on euthanasia, it is important that we exercise compassion for others and not belittle or berate those who are struggling. The same rule applies to rehoming. In some cases, an owner may be facing circumstances beyond their capacity, resources, or safety threshold, and choosing to rehome a dog can be an act of responsibility rather than neglect.
- Keep training discussions civil: This sub strongly encourages the use of positive reinforcement training. That said, we will not censor posts or comments that mention other methods of training (i.e. e-collars, prong collars). If you feel that a post or comment contains abusive training methods, please report it to the mods for review.
- No brigading other subreddits: Any user found to be engaging in brigading activity toward other subreddits may receive a warning or ban.
- No shitposting or trolling: Mods ain't got time for that. Shoo.
- No backyard breeding: Posts that encourage backyard breeding of pit bulls are not permitted. Discussions about ethical breeding practices are acceptable.
- No buying or selling: This is not a group for buying or selling dogs. Any posts involving such will be promptly removed. Rehoming posts are permitted.
- No posts that encourage the misuse of ESA or Service Animal status: We do not allow posts that encourage fraudulent mislabeling of dogs as Service Animals or ESAs.
- No posts encouraging the mislabeling of dogs: This sub does not encourage mislabeling a dog in order to circumvent BSL, or mislabeling a dog to improve its chances of adoption.
- No antagonism toward other users or subreddits: Leave your personal beef with other users or subreddits at the door. This includes anti-pit subs, anti-dog subs, or things that are said by individuals in comments or DMs. Additionally, harassing others for a post made in /r/Pitbull will result in a ban. This includes harassment in private/direct messages, cross-posts, and in other subreddits.
- No karma-farming, AI slop, or stock images: Examples of obvious attempts to generate karma include (but are not limited to): AI slop, reposts, submitting stock photos of cute dogs, asking why people hate pit bulls, etc.
