- Perfumes/Products must be labeled or listed clearly: Every post must have a full list of each perfume in the title or body of the post. Don’t assume because of a recognizable bottle shape that everyone knows what it is or that because the label is clear to you in the image everyone can read it. Listing them allows those that reply on screen readers or other accessibility aids to be able to participate in the sub.
- This includes asking for recommendations based on the scent of a product (ex. Shampoo, deodorant, etc.)
- Be Appropriate, Kind, and On Topic: This is a blanket term being used to define content or behavior here, it can be as simple as someone accidentally posting a cat video that has nothing to do with perfumes to posting content that can be seen as vulgar or offensive.
- Arguments that devolve into insults usually just get removed
- Being mean or harsh for no reason will result in a three day ban.
- Hate speech will result in a permanent ban.
- No Repetitive Topics: This is for stuff like “what’s the best (*singular note such as vanilla or common combinations like vanilla and sugar*) perfume” or “what (scent family such as citrus or sweet) perfume is best”. These posts are overdone weekly and often easy to find in a simple google search or perfume discussion and review sites. Posts with obscure notes/combinations will still be allowed provided they can’t be found in a quick search.
- Missing Information: Certain posts are required to have more information included in the body of the posts. These are bottle IDs, recommendation requests, and is it fakes.
- In general, it’s best practice to include as much relevant information as possible to receive quality responses.
- No Marketing or promotion: This rule covers all forms of marketing and promotion, sharing youtube channels, instagrams, etc is not allowed either. Nor is data gathering in the form of polls/survey etc.
- No offers to buy/sell/trade/give away: Selling perfumes or offering to buy is not allowed in this subreddit. This also includes offers to send samples, decants, or bottles, regardless of payment.
- Attempting to sell in this subreddit WILL RESULT in a PERMANENT BAN.
- “Is it fake” posts are now banned: These posts were previously allowed on the weekend, but since being banned in other subs it’s become too much to allow them here in any capacity. Many scammers use these posts to learn if their fakes are passing enough to sell, and they don’t really add any value to the subreddit.
- We recommend purchasing from reputable sellers, checking reviews, & using your best judgement. If it seems too good to be true, it likely is.
- Try to avoid age specific language to describe scents: For example the most common removal is calling perfumes old ladyish/smelling like a grandparent. But this also goes for younger agism too (calling scents childish).
- The rule was recently rolled back a little, so you can use it in a positive light, but it’s still preferred that you don’t.

- Wednesday Vibes - USE FLAIR: What’s does my collection say about me/what’s my vibe posts are limited to Wednesday. This rule applies to collection based posts and mood board style posts (a collection of pics and asking for recommendations based on them). For collection based posts - You must use the appropriate flair based on the kind of feedback you wish to receive. And you must provide the written out list of each perfume shown.
- Dupe requests have a process to follow: Dupe requests are for perfumes that smell like any non-perfume product (e.g. skincare) or for perfumes that smell near identical to other perfumes, aka “dupes.”
- The first step is to always search the subreddit for previous requests - often if it’s a great fragrance it’s been asked before.
- Dupe requests should go into the weekly dupe request thread. The thread refreshes weekly, giving enough time for requests to be seen.
- Banned Content - Regularly updated as needed: 1) Pheromone perfumes
- The science behind these is not proven and the posts tend to bring out the spam bots.
- 2) Using perfumes in controversial spaces (Hospitals, Schools, Workplaces)
- These tend to cause fights between people with sensitivities and people who don’t care.
- 3) AI content
- AI usage is problematic in general, lacks proper regulation, and was banned by popular vote.
- 4) Medically related - allergies, sensitivities, and migraines are questions best left to your doctor/professionals
- Other: Something that needs bringing to a mods attention not covered by the other rules
