Subreddit Rules
- Be kind and helpful: Don't be rude, don't judge people for their taste, don't use hate speech of any kind.
- We'd like to keep the community friendly and welcoming.
- Only posts ASKING for recommendations are allowed.: The only exceptions are: "Song lottery" and "Music discovery" posts.
- No posts directly recommending/promoting music, artists or playlists are allowed. You can recommend music only in response to requests.
- You can and are advised to include link(s), if you firstly describe what you're looking for and pick an appropriate flair.
- All recommendations should be related to the OP's request: Don't spam random music recommendations unrelated to the request. Repetitive abuse might result in a ban.
- No clickbait, uninformative posts: All posts have to be clear about what you're asking for.
- No "music like this [song/playlist link]" posts are allowed. Write at least the artist (+ song title) and describe shortly the music style. But it's the best to describe as well as possible music you're searching for.
- Still if you're asking for music similar to specific songs, aside of description it's a good idea to include links, especially if songs are not very popular.
- Use an appropriate flair: Try to pick a flair that is the closest to what you're looking for.
- If you have requirements that are not limited to one genre, pick "theme/mood/..."
- If you're unsure what to pick, choose "other/many/unknown"
- Don't use "Your favorite music (anything)" flair for requests with any very specific requirements. It's for asking for music that other Redditors want to recommend at this moment.
- "Music discovery" is for recommending or asking about different tools/ways of finding new music.
- No self promotion : ...unless directly asked for. Repetitive recommending only your own songs in comments or making self promo posts might result in a ban. The only place in this sub where you can officially promote yourself is [(self)Promo playlist](https://www.reddit.com/r/MusicRecommendations/comments/1bdz2uj/official_selfpromo_collab_playlist/)
- No song search/identification posts: There are different subs for this. Try at: r/whatsthissong, r/tipofmytongue, r/helpmefind
- No genre identification: If you don't know the genre just pick Rec.Me: other/many/unknown genres flair, include link(s) and try to be as descriptive as possible about the music you search for (is it vocal/instrumental, acoustic/electronic, chill/upbeat/experimental/heavy/dark etc.)
- No off-topic posts : All submissions must be asking for music suggestions. Random questions, discussion posts etc. will be promptly removed.
- No spamming : In order for the sub to function smoothly we will be routinely removing any spam/troll submissions and ban users making such posts or comments.
- Only high quality and free "music discovery" ways
- reaction channels with no deeper content (good reaction&analysis channels are fine) or tools unusable or unavailable without paying for them.
- Respond in "I'll rate your rec." posts: If you made "I'll rate your rec." post, be sure to respond to at least 10 recommendations within 8 hours after posting.
