Subreddit Rules
- Be polite!: Constructive criticism is encouraged, but being a jerk is not.
- Credit the builder: Linking to other people's work is okay, but make sure it doesn't look like you're claiming it as your own. Fraudulent postings will be deleted.
- Use an image hosting service: Please host your images on imgur, reddit uploads or flickr. Directly linking to images from other sites (like blogs or news sites) is discouraged-- rehost images on imgur when possible (but include a link to the original source in a comment).
- Don't link directly to Facebook albums: There's a lot of potential personal info leakage there.
- Use albums when appropriate: If you're posting a number of images of the same build, please make an album on imgur rather than a bunch of individual posts.
- Youtube video links are now BLOCKED: Too much Youtube click-throughs that contain mostly loud annoying music, long lingering shots, personality presentations, and unrelated content is why
- Click-Farming for any site is allowed on this subreddit.
- No Diecast: This is a subreddit of plastic model car builders & crafters that take great pains and pride to create and then photograph their masterpieces, and share their sources and techniques. If you have store-bought factory-made diecast cars, or wish to have them evaluated, please post them to r/Diecast or r/DiecastCollectors. And also, give /r/DiecastCustoms a look. Thank you.
- Do Not Link To tiktok or Discord:
- Surveys and Polls are banned - Posting is for model cars only.:
- NO URL SHORTENERS.: URL shorteners are automatically removed. If you want to show a google search, or ebay link, or amazon link, or any other vendor, leave it in readable form so users can see where they are going. URL shorteners get nuked. You can hide link URLs within words or single words like this : [word or words](a URL) <-----will display as a clickable word.
- NO CLICK FARMING, SELLING OR MARKETING: Click-farming posts from *people* will be removed as soon as I see them and one personal warning will be given. Obvious click-farming accounts will be removed and perma-banned with no notice. Selling is allowed if we happen to know ya!
- VENDOR LINKS THAT HIDE ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER: Starting on 10/17/2022 Due to the internet being rife with fraud, ANY obfuscation of name, address, and phone number on any internet linked web page will be grounds for that link to be removed from the subreddit, post or comment thread, depending on where it falls. A legitimate vendor has no reason to hide these details.
- SCALE MODELS ONLY - NO MEMES: Research, history, pictures of the real thing and/or renders that go with your build are fine. But NOT real cars or digital renders by themselves. 3D printed models or parts are ok, but not 3D files by themselves. • NO MEMES • NO Sculptures. Go to r/sculptures or r/art. • NO RC cars. Go to r/radiocontrol or r/rccars or r/Crawlers, or r/crawling, or r/rccrawler • NO Glass bottles. Go to r/Avon. • NO Papercraft or cardboard craft. Go to r/papercraft Thanks.
- PAINT QUESTIONS: ■ PAINT QUESTIONS : For ANY paint questions please include the following : • KIND and brand of paint. • KIND and brand of primer. • HOW were the parts prepped. • HOW was the primer and paint applied, brush, airbrush, can? • If airbrush what air pressure? • WHAT was the temp/weather at time of application. ALL of these things have to do with paint quality. Can't really answer your question without this info. Paint questions without at least SOME of this info will be removed.
- DO NOT SUGGEST ACETONE ON POLYSTYRENE KITS: If you are caught suggesting the use of acetone, or nail polish remover, or gasoline on polystyrene models you will be banned. These chemicals are KNOWN to melt polystyrene plastic.
