- Discussion about whether a subgenre is actually metal is allowed and supported. In discussions about the authenticity of a subgenre, please remember to remain civil and engage in respectful disagreement.
- What Should I post?: Metal for the Masses is intended to a space for discussing a broad spectrum of topics and genres related to metal. All we ask is that is your post be related to metal or a metal adjacent genre (except on Sundays, where you are free to post about any music genre.) and you put modest effort into your post. All posts should have some kind of premise for discussion within the post itself.
- Do not post NSFW images/gifs in the comment sections: NSFW posts are fine if the NSFW content tag has been selected but NSFW images/gifs are not allowed in comment sections due to no filter/blur option for comments
- All forms and types of content allowed but low effort/quality posts may be removed: All posts will be reviewed and removed if deemed very low quality or effort.
- Please refrain from hopping on trends such as 'my most listened' or 'my recent topster' etc.
- When posting a band picture or album cover, make sure to include the band name in the post. Failure to do this may result in your post being taken down.
- Additionally, posts containing AI generated content are not allowed.
- No Partisan politics or unrelated posts: This community is strictly for metal discussion.
- Political comments should be directly related to the music at hand. If political discussion falls outside of those bounds, including unrelated discussion of current politics, offending posts or comments will be removed.
- It is difficult to say when something is "too political" or "too unrelated" as such, this rule must be enforced with case by case nuance and is ultimately up to Mod discretion.
- Songs and External Links: Links to articles and announcements are fine, but low effort links such as social media posts or videos that don't lend themselves to discussion are not. Song and album links are allowed only if:
- -The post title clearly includes the artist name and the song or album title, release year -Includes a discussion prompt or question intended to encourage conversation. (e.g. Why you like the song) -listing bands whose fans would enjoy the music. (Usually by saying "For fans of:")
- Slurs/Bigotry/Racism: Targeted harassment and use of slurs directed towards a person is prohibited and a bannable offense. General bigotry and racism are also not tolerated and a bannable offense.
- No Brigading: The purpose of this subreddit is to talk about metal insulated within itself. This is not the place to express your grievances with other subreddits. Brigading is not allowed in any form or level. If we believe you are trying to organize a coordinated effort to harass or disrupt other subreddits, you are here as a part of a coordinated effort to disrupt this sub, or you are here purely on your own accord purely to disrupt this sub and not engage in discussion, you will be banned.
- Blacklisted/Retired Content and Posts: Some post topics and types of posts are currently not allowed due to oversaturation. Posts about Sleep Token and President and gamified posts such as tournaments are temporarily being removed until further notice.
- Civility : We expect everyone participating in Metal for the Masses to behave reasonably civilly when interacting with other users We don’t always expect you to be perfectly gentle and polite when talking about bands or other users. Jabs and harsh criticism have always and always will be a part of metal culture. But if you use abusive language or engage in harassing behavior that we deem outside the bounds of metal discussion, your comments will be removed and you will be warned or suspended.
- No Soliciting: Any attempts to buy or sell goods through the subreddit is not allowed. Go somewhere else, ideally discogs or Ebay.
- No National Socialist/White Supremacist Albums: If you make a post with lyrics or art relating to supporting White Supremacy or National Socialism, it will be removed.
