General posts about travel, flights, airlines, getting to Japan, accommodations, or other destinations should be posted in r/travel, r/flights, or similar subreddits. Posts about living in Japan temporarily or permanently belong in subreddits like r/movingtojapan, r/teachinginjapan, or r/japanlife. Translation requests should be posted in r/translator. Posts that belong in other subreddits will be removed and redirected.
  2. Posts must contain a title and a body.: While we allow vague/broad questions in our subreddit, all posts must contain both a title and a body. We do not allow title-only posts.
  3. Fully researched and detailed itineraries should be posted in /r/JapanTravel.: If you have a fully researched and detailed itinerary (such as daily activities for each day) and are looking for a review, please post in /r/JapanTravel. /r/JapanTravelTips is for more general questions or bare-bones itinerary posts.
  4. No self promotion or promotion allowed.: We do not allow AMAs, self-published articles, vlogs, blogs, advertisements, social media links, or any other kind of self-promotion or general promotion in this sub. Our goal is to provide a platform for this information without having to click through to an article, website, video, etc. **Content seen as promotional will be removed—this includes posting eSim codes/linkspam.**
  5. No AI-generated posts or comments allowed.: Posts or comments containing AI-generated itineraries, information, or content will be removed. Because AI-generated content is often wrong or misleading, the mods reserve the right to remove posts or comments that seem like they are AI-generated, even if not explicitly stated. Requests for locating places may be removed if they do not contain enough information or are not tourism-related. Ticket resale is allowed in Monthly Meet-Up thread of /r/JapanTravel or [Japan Travel's Discord](https://discord.gg/JapanTravel).

  11. No discussion regarding questionable, illegal, or adult activities.: /r/JapanTravelTips is family friendly. We do not allow posts regarding illegal, questionable, or sexually explicit behavior. This includes posts about illegal drugs, underage alcohol consumption, counterfeit goods, adult/18+ activities, sexual services or establishments, circumventing Japanese laws, working illegally (including remote work on a tourist visa), or dangerous decisions such as hiking/skiing/swimming/etc. out of season.

No questions about visas or border policy allowed.: We do not allow questions about how entry to Japan works, how to get a visa, how to properly fill out the information for a visa, why visas were denied, or whether you'll be allowed entrance to Japan based on your circumstances/history (including criminal history). Please seek advice directly from your local consulate. Additionally, we do not allow discussion of border policy, immigration laws, or similar topics.
  13. Posts and comments must be written in English.: Posts and comment replies must be written in English for the sake of everyone's convenience and for effective modding. Even slightly broken or machine-translated English is likely to give you more responses in this sub (though we encourage at least trying to write in your own words). Including Japanese language translations of phrases/words where appropriate is okay.
