Subreddit Rules
- Respect: Please be kind, considerate, and respectful of everyone here. We all walk a long, difficult road, so let's help each other out :)
- Disrespectful comments include things like: insults, excessive snark, discouraging people from posting or asking questions, questioning the validity or seriousness of others’ symptoms, and sexism/racism/ homophobia/transphobia etc. A first offense will result in a warning, second offenses result in a temporary or permanent ban at the discretion of the mod team.
- Criteria Required for Embedded Infections/Ureaplasma Posts: To post on your embedded infection/ureaplasma success you must:
- 1. Have COMPLETED treatment successfully (symptom free)
- 2. Include how long you were on antibiotics
- 3. Include how long its been since coming off antibiotics (must be at least 6 months).
- If someone is NOT asking about infections, please do not bombard them about PCR testing or embedded infections.
- We do not allow UTI resources from LiveUTIFree or other commercial sources.
- Don't Shame Users for Refusing a Treatment/Diagnostic Method: · Diet is not for everyone. Especially for those with eating disorders. If someone isn’t interested in changing their diet, don't persist in telling them to do so.
- · Physical therapy is not for everyone. For some people pelvic exams are impossible and PT can be triggering.
- · Invasive testing like cystoscopy or urodynamics are not for everyone. Some people can't tolerate them at all. Do not shame anyone, ever, for their decisions around testing and treatment.
- No Absolute Causes or Cures for IC, No Blanket Statements: IC is caused by many different things. Please tell other posters what has caused or cured your IC, but please don't tell them what has caused or will cure their IC. If this was known, then we wouldn't have any need for the ICA. So if you do know what has caused or will cure everyone's IC, please go be a doctor.
- I.E. All IC is not caused by chronic infections. All IC is not cured by the diet.
- There is no single cause to IC; therefore, there is no single cure to IC.
- Don't Ask Us to Interpret your Test Results
- one here is a doctor or qualified to read your test results, and we cannot decipher your urine dipstick colors accurately through a screen.
- You are free to ask questions about your test results, but please don't post a picture of your test results.
- All Images of Urine Need to be Marked as NSFW and Cannot be for Diagnostic Purposes: Please mark images of urine as NSFW. It's fine to share photos as long as you aren't asking for help diagnosing a problem.
- Examples of photos that are allowed (if NSFW tagged):
- · Commiseration over belongings lost to AZO stains (RIP)
- Examples of photo posts that are not allowed:
- · "What is in my pee?"
- · "Does this mean I have an infection?"
- We are not physicians. Even if we were physicians, we would not be able to diagnose your issue based on a photo of your urine.
- This is a Pro-Choice Subreddit: If someone is asking medical questions regarding IC and abortion, absolutely do not use Pro-Life arguments to try and manipulate their decision.
- It is selfish to make this about you and your political beliefs.
- Pregnancy affects IC -- it can either put it into remission or cause horrific flares that you will no longer be able to take medication for. The only person who should judge their risks, know their tolerance, and make their choice is the person who is pregnant.
- Do Not Post Images of NSFW Body Parts: Please do not post images of your genitals. We are not doctors and we do not want to see it.
- Spam: Advertisements and inappropriate content will be removed and posters will be banned. This is not the place to promote your blog, website, podcast, Youtube channel or telehealth company.
- If you are part of a research organization or student looking for participants for a study or project on IC, please contact the mod team before soliciting the subreddit. We only allow studies with IRB/EIC oversight.
- Suspicious Account Activity: **If banned for this rule, message the mods one week from the ban after you've made other posts on Reddit to regain access**
- Your account may be temporarily banned if it has suspicion of marketing or brigrading from an outside community.
- Try to participate organically in the community/Reddit more before advertising/suggesting a product, service, or single issue. A varied post history shows that your account is in regular use and not controlled by a marketer, single issue bad actor, or bot.
- Research Studies: If you are part of a research organization or student looking for participants for a study or project on IC, please contact the mod team before soliciting the subreddit. We only allow studies with IRB/EIC oversight.
