Subreddit Rules
  1. Temper your authenticity with compassion.: We encourage discussion and disagreement in the subreddit. At the same time, you must offer compassion while being honest about your perspective. It takes more words but hurts fewer people.
  2. We do not tolerate insults or "tough love" and encourage a compassionate approach to helping users.
  3. Do not invalidate other users’ thoughts, opinions, or feelings.: When someone is sharing how they feel about themselves, or about a particular topic, do not tell them they’re wrong, to “just do it”, "get over it", “stop being so weak”, and other similar statements.
  4. Instead approach with curiosity, and ask questions to get on the same page, and disagree respectfully.
  5. Do not default to the assumption that someone is trolling, not trying hard enough, or is simply “lazy”.
  6. Do not use generalizations.: Do not generalize groups of people.
  7. This sub frequently discusses topics that involve statistics on large populations. At the same time, generalizations can be reductive and not map on to individual experience, leading to unproductive conflict.
  8. Generalizations include language that uses, for example, “most men” and “all women” type statements. Speak from your personal experience i.e use statements such as “I feel”, “I experienced”, “It happened to me that”, etc.
  9. Keep posts and comments in English only.: In order to moderate the subreddit efficiently, we only allow English posts and comments.
  10. Do not post or engage in conversations about banned topics.: Political discussion, proselytization, drug use advocacy, financial advice, and cryptocurrency discussions are not allowed. If a topic at hand has political or religious contexts, please stick to your personal lived experience.
  11. Do not link to posts or websites with language that violates our rules.
  12. Do not make meta-level posts about other posts.
  13. No self-promotion, surveys, or advertising.: Please do not advertise any personal social media accounts, post for financial gain, or other products, surveys, shared documents (Ex: Google Drive), and other services. All other links, videos, or streams must relevant to the subreddit/HG/Dr. K.
  14. There are no exceptions to this rule, violations will result in a permanent ban.
  15. Treat the community as a shared space.: For posts: Please do not vent/rant without explicitly stating what you'd like support with. Be receptive to commenters.
  16. For comments: If something feels too emotionally triggering for you, do not engage with it. Do not engage in "flame wars".
  17. Avoid low effort posts and AI use.: Posts and comments should clearly state their intentions for posting, provide help to others, or otherwise contribute to the community.
  18. All AI generated content is strictly forbidden on the subreddit. This includes written content wholly or partially generated by AI, AI generated images, and AI generated music/sounds/voiceovers. Content created with AI may result in a permanent ban.
