- Relevancy: All posts must be relevant to goth/**dark-oriented** leaning alternative fashion. We try and be lenient, but please don't post:
- Metal merchandise/make-up * Plague doctor costumes/masks * Clown (inspired) make-up * Cosplay/costumes * Suits * Cartoon/anime/CGI/AI drawings
- If your outfit is dark, but not particularly alternative it runs the risk of being removed. If your outfit is more emo pop/scene, we recommend r/alternativefashion.
- Please post decor in r/GothLifestyle or r/DarklyInclined.
- Relevancy: Music: We understand anyone can wear darkly inclined/alternative fashion, however, as we are still a counterpart to r/goth, we must ask you follow the same rules on music relevancy as listed [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/goth/wiki/rules/#wiki_2.3A_music_relevancy).
- This means:
- no recommendations of non-goth music in comments/posts * keep all music in videos goth related * no non-goth bands in titles with your outfits * no non-goth band merch worn in outfits
- Note that r/alternativefashion exists.
- Body Positivity: This is a body positive space. Goths of all races, shapes, genders, sexualities, persons with disabilities are welcome here. Shaming will not be tolerated.
- No Seeking Validation: You look fine.
- Try to keep the questions about what you should wear, how you should look, etc. down. Asking for tips, help with a style, where to find a specific item, however, is fine as that's your decision.
- Ultimately, it's up to you and you should do what you like. Also please don't beg for karma/validation, there are other subs for that.
- No Objectification of Goths: We are a space safe and do not tolerate objectification of women, esp. minors **AT ALL**:
- asking people out or looking for dates * unsolicited DMs to r/GothFashion members * nudes, extreme NSFW, or straight up porn * harmful stereotypes such as "goths are kinky", "BTGGF", etc. * comments about how OP is 'sexy', 'hot', or commenting on bodies
- Any accounts primarily participating in NSFW subreddits will be banned without warning - no exceptions. Our members do not post to be leered at.**
- No Image Stealing: If, or we as mods are suspecting, you of stealing and reposting photos that aren't of yourself then you will be removed. It's creepy and it potentially counts as karma farming.
- Posting pictures of famous people is not considered image stealing since they're known figures. Just make sure you tell us who they are, even if it's obvious.
- No Low Quality Posts: If your post has been removed for low quality, it is because it fits one of the below:
- Is taken on a low quality device (update your potato). * Is unfocused/unclear. * Is a short, general question that there are already sources available for. * Is too dark or has too much light exposure. * Is too photoshopped/filtered. * Is based around "goth types", which either are their own subcultures or fashions, aren't related to goth, or don't exist. * Is a deletion/repost
- No Profiteering or Advertising: Adverts, trying to sell, promote, or poach followers will be removed. This includes, but isn't limited to:
- selling items you've created (Etsy) * promoting retailers (clothing brands) * promoting musicians/bands (your own music) * having a fan service (OF, Fansly) * GoFundMe, Kickstarters * tagging your own social media * requests to buy; we can't protect you from scams
- We check profiles for promo including linktrees/social media; if you like, feel free to create a new account to post here.
- Only 1 Post Every 24 Hours: Showcase your best of your best; this isn't your personal Facebook or Instagram wall.
- Posts must be spaced out and separate posts must not be posted within a full 24 hours of each other.
- Some members like to show us WIP/update photos, this is good but please keep them at a minimum; we don't need to see each stitch or patch you have sewn. The best way to showcase this type of DIY post is adding multiple photos to one post.
- This may change in the future.
- No Avoiding Ban Evasion: If you have been banned from the subreddit on a previous account, whether it's due to spamming, harassment, or breaking any other rule, please expect to have your evasion account banned as well.
- This is to keep members of our community safe, especially in the case of harassment/stalking and we will not change our minds. You have been warned.
- No Loaded Questions/Posts: Don't rile up the community to vote or go against something. There's been too many cases where someone or something have been wrongly accused.
- Don't post loaded questions with the intent to start an argument, fight or debate, including references to past threads.
- Angry-posting because your post, comment, whatever has been removed will, obviously, be removed, too. Further action regarding a temp/perm ban or mute may be taken.
- No Misinformation: Despite the focus of this subreddit being fashion, the subculture is still subject to several misconceptions and stereotyping.
- As the subculture is defined and acknowledged to be a music-based subculture with its origins in late 70s/early '80s British post-punk movement, any comments boiling it down to any of the following:
- a "personality" * a "mindset" * an "aesthetic" * a "philosophy" * a "lifestyle" * or conflating goth with Gothic
- or similar, will be deleted.
- No Lewds or Profile Bait: This subreddit is a safe space for all ages. We do not condone objectification of goths in this subreddit.
- This includes sexual/objectifying usernames and post titles. Make another account to participate.
- Photos with lewd or sexualised poses (including ahegao) will be removed at the discretion of the mods. This includes profile bait and obvious brand building. We aren't your personal social media wall.
- If a post is attracting too many sexual comments it may be locked and tagged NSFW instead.
