- No bigotry, hate speech, slurs, and trolling.: This is a positive, inclusive, and anti-bigotry space. Racism, misogyny, homophobia, ableism, and all other forms of bigotry have no space here, and will be met with a ban
- trolling, no hate speech, no name-calling.
- No name-calling or drama for the sake of drama: Includes characterizations such as “bot,” “troll,” etc. as well as unnecessarily hostile comments toward other users, impugning others’ motives, and amplifying objectionable comments.
- No spam/advertising: While it is alright to bring a useful product to other users’ attention (at moderators’ discretion and until it becomes a problem), more than one such post within the space of two months will be considered spam. Posting obsessively to an outside domain with low quality content will also be considered a form of spam. This rule will be applied to self-promotion of skating content without meaningful engagement with the user base. This also includes advertising for services.
- Be respectful in discussing skating figures.: Blunt criticism of skaters, officials, and other skating figures is welcome, but please remember to be civil even when being critical. Excessive hostility, degrading commentary, name calling, and ill-wishing are not. "I don't think XYZ deserved that score and ABC should have won over them?" Fine. "XYZ is trash garbage and I hope they fall four times?" Not fine. We will hand out 3 day suspensions for the first and second offenses under this rule, with a permanent ban on the third offense.
- Discussion of fitness and nutrition limited; no medical advice: While figure skating is a sport and proper diet and exercise an important component of success, relevant advice will be limited specifically to pre-practice/competition meals and also to exercises particularly helpful to skaters. Other subreddits are available for general nutrition and fitness advice. The only advice we can give with respect to medical symptoms is to seek the opinion of a medical professional.
- No sock-puppeteering: Users employing multiple accounts to engage in artificial discussion and/or for the purposes of vote manipulation are subject to ban.
- No posts asking about fitting of a particular model boot: Internet advice is not going to take the place of a fitter. We don’t, can’t, and won’t know your foot. On the contrary, posts asking about characteristics of skate models generally are permitted.
- No Low Effort Posts: Posts must contain titles, information, content, or opinions that are well thought out.
- No Twitter or X links/Limited Social Media/Celebrity Watching Content
- links from X/Twitter will be allowed.
- Posts regarding elite skaters' non-skating social media and celebrity activities will be limited. One happy birthday post will be permitted per birthday, as well as one post announcing/discussing major life events in a skater's life (ie: marriages, coming out, college graduations). Duplicates will be deleted.
- Posts that basically just repost a skater's social media or celebrity activities not having to do with the sport, will be deleted.
- Be civil in discussion: Please be kind in discussions. All viewpoints and opinions are welcome and encouraged but respect is required. Name calling, harassment, threats, bullying, and taunting are unacceptable.
- The first removal will serve as a warning, the second will result in a 3 day ban and a 3rd will result in a permeant ban.
- Read the wiki/Use the search bar: The Wiki has a lot of information and is an underutilized resource. There are also a lot of great posts answering a ton of questions. In order to keep the same type of posts to a minimum and reduce sub clutter during busy periods, users are encouraged to look for their information in the wiki and utilize the search bar before asking a question
- No misinformation:
- No Speculating on Unnamed Victims/Prepertrators of Sexual Assault: Please do not speculate on the identity of anyone who is accused of sexual assault or is a victim of sexual assault. All comments mentioning a specific name will be removed until there is an official source linking to the person.
- No Spoilers Until 12 hours after competition end: In order to prevent spoilers from those in other timezones, please refrain from spoilers in titles until 12 hours after the event has ended.
- Keep Equipment Recommendations in the Pinned Thread: Any equipment recommendations should be asked in the pinned thread
