Subreddit Rules
- Post a list of your items: When posting pictures of your EDC, please provide a list of items in the post itself or in the comments within one hour of posting. Check the rules wiki section for listing guidelines
- No Sales or marketing: We consider spam to be posts/comments that try to take advantage of the subreddit, automated or otherwise. This includes, but is not limited to: advertising your own products/company/social media, shilling for a third party, crowd-funding sites, and affiliate links.
- This also applies to posts and comments wanting to buy or sell between users.
- Instagram links *to your own* pages are forbidden, and cannot be watermarked into photos. Makers/sellers must abide by post criteria found in the wiki.
- No Incivility: Comments/posts that include name calling, insults, mocking, condescension, gatekeeping, or any other form of incivility towards users or items will be removed. Criticism of an item itself is allowed, but keep it civil.
- Encouraging or supporting the incivility of others is treated the same as doing it directly
- No Politics: Discussion regarding any political party/ideology/group, even those you agree with, will not be tolerated. Do not debate the politics of, or degrade a country/state/city, user or of an item they choose to EDC. Posts are allowed to contain political imagery (stickers, flags, patches, etc.) so long as they aren’t the primary focus of the post, and don’t violate Reddit TOS.
- No Inappropriate Content: Inappropriate content is anything that doesn’t fit the theme of the subreddit. This includes, but is not limited to: content unrelated to EDC, AI-generated content, news articles, nudity or OnlyFans-type imagery, and injuries/gore. Posts—including those involving firearms—must have a clear EDC context.
- No Videos: Video posts are not allowed. They are difficult/time consuming to moderate and often contain advertising.
- This includes video links in comments.
- No Memes (Except for Fridays): Memes are only allowed on Fridays. Memes must follow all other listed rules.
- No petitions, screenshots, or clickbait. Satirical EDCs are allowed any day, so long as it follows the traditional EDC post format.
- 48hr Account Age and 50 Karma Minimum: In order to post or comment, an account must be at least 48 hours old and have a minimum of 50 karma. This is to prevent spam. ***Do not message the mods*** asking for your post to be approved, or about how to gain karma
- Do not ask why someone is carrying a gun or knife: Please read the FAQ before asking why someone carries a knife or a gun. These questions are often asked dishonestly, and this rule exists to discourage political debate stemming from loaded questions.
- Do not give unasked for advice regarding firearms or knives, or ask why they aren't carried.: Do not give unasked for advice regarding purchasing or carrying firearms or knives.
- Do not ask users why they *don't* carry.
- Both of these actions are the flip side of not asking why they *are* carried. Doing so serves no good purpose and pushes users who choose not to carry such items into justifying their choice, or explaining the fact that laws are not the same everywhere.
- Flair choice: This is not a rule in the sense that there are any consequences, there is no breaking of this rule. It exists solely to allow reports that a flair *may* be inaccurate and need a mod to change it. Reporting an inaccurate flair does not guarantee the flair will be changed, only that a mod will review it.
- In the case of the flair being "literal EDC", this would not apply because someone doubts it is literally carried every day, though feel free to report that instead of gatekeeping via comments
- No Bots: This rule exists to allow reports of suspected bot activity. Bots are already banned as soon as they are detected, but having a specific report reason for it allows better prioritization of reports.
- This does not apply to helpful reddit bots like brokenrecordbot
- No stupidity: If you can't read, there's no point in being here
- No Inappropriate or Off-Topic Titles: Post titles do not necessarily have to focus on the content of the post but must avoid being divisive or seek to create a non-EDC related discussion. Titles can be creative, satirical, humorous but should not include inflammatory language, express personal beliefs, or ask questions that could lead to off-topic discussions, or create unnecessary conflict. This includes avoiding political, religious, or socially charged commentary.
