Subreddit Rules
  1. Privacy of Veterans, Families & Staff is paramount.
  2. use of File/Claim Numbers, Staff Position Numbers, names or otherwise identifying information. Any breach of privacy will be met with an instant permaban - no exceptions
  3. If you choose to disclose your PERSONAL information, do so by DM to other redditors at your own risk.
  4. This is not an official DVA page: This is not an official DVA site. We cannot action or intervene in claims. We are here to share experiences, offer support and help one another navigate the complex beast that is DVA
  5. Everyone's service is valued here.: Whether you served for a day, or you served for 40+ years, you are legally allowed to access DVA services. Gatekeeping of other people's service will not be tolerated - let DVA deal with it. This extends to statements about the worth or validity of others' claims.
  6. Posts should be relevant to the Australian Defence Force (ADF) or DVA-covered Allied nations only: To best allow the community to support each other, we welcome posts from Veterans with DVA eligibility, or those unsure of their eligibility. Generally, this is current and former members of the ADF, their families, and members of the British Commonwealth. If you're not sure, send us a message!
  7. Don't go overboard on the complaints: The issues within DVA and Veteran welfare are very well-known, and have a broad range of emotional impacts on different Veterans. You are welcome to throw in your two-cents, but don't go overboard, and try and keep it as productive as possible
  8. Don't be a dick.: Pretty simple one - treat everyone with respect. If you wouldn't say it to someone's face, don't say it online!
  9. No paid advocacy services: Here at r/DVAAustralia, we feel very strongly that paid advocacy services are exploitative - they cannot offer a better service than free alternatives.
  10. As of Sep 25, Due to vexatious threats of litigation received from paid advocacy providers, no references to paid advocacy providers will be allowed going forward.
  11. Information Accuracy: Accessing DVA is confusing enough and there is a raft of misinformation in the Veteran community. Information that can be verified as incorrect using official sources will be removed. Mods will endeavour to provide the relevant source wherever possible.
  12. Integrity: We aren't here to help you 'hack' your way into more points, deliberately play things up or otherwise endorse activities that are outside legitimate and reasonable use of DVA services. Posts will be removed and users banned if it becomes apparent you are taking the piss, or encouraging others to do so.
  13. PI Payment & CSC Classification Advice: PI payments and the outcome of CSC classifications are subjective to the individual and it is extremely difficult to give reliable advice. If you want a general understanding of how PI is calculated, please view https://reddit.com/r/DVAAustralia/s/pVASpWe8h8
  14. Questions about understanding/interpreting the GARP, or CSC's advertised criteria, are more than welcome, so long as they aren't framed with getting a points estimate out of someone
  15. External Surveys, Petitions and Ads : Surveys, petitions and a limited number of relevant ads are welcome, but please seek permission via modmail first, so we can verify that it is legitimate and appropriate for the forum.
  16. Wait Times Questions in Megathread Only: To avoid diluting the page with extensive and frequent questions about wait times, please only post questions relating to wait times in the megathread.
