Subreddit Rules
  1. Format your code: If you want to post code, please format your code such that it is legible. For in-line code surround it with backticks ('`') like this
  2. > normal and `monospaced`
  3. > normal and `monospaced`
  4. For blocks of code, surround the code block with three backticks on a line of their own; or indent each and every line with four spaces. For more details, please have a look at the [commenting wiki page](http://www.reddit.com/wiki/commenting).
  5. Only C is on topic: This subreddit is about programming in the C programming language. Content about other languages such as C++, C#, or assembly or programming in general is only on-topic as long as it relates to the C programming language. Merely trying to reach an audience of C programmers is not enough to make your post be on topic. See https://www.reddit.com/r/C_Programming/wiki/index/getting-help/not-c/ to find out where to go for help with other languages.
  6. Do not post links as self posts: Reddit is a link-aggregator with a comment function. Its primary purpose is to collect links to interesting content so users can discuss it. Self posts exist as an alternative for when you want to post something without a link.
  7. Do not use self posts for content that is essentially a link and a comment. Make a link posts and add your comment to the comment section.
  8. This does not apply to question posts with links to source code you are asking about.
  9. No pictures of code: Do not post pictures of code. Read [this article](http://idownvotedbecau.se/imageofcode) for reasons.
  10. Posts and comments must be civil: Don't be rude or insulting. Go ahead and have a vigorous disagreement if you like, but avoid personal attacks, insults and ad-hominem remarks. Concentrate on the facts at issue.
  11. Don't post or link to copyright violations: Don't link to or post material in violation of its copyright license. This will get your comment/post deleted and earn you a ban. Quoting small amount is definitely OK and things that are obviously fair-use are OK.
  12. If you are linking to (for example) a book whose author permits online access, then instead of linking directly to the book PDF or whatever, link to a page belonging to the author or publisher where they give that permission. Then everybody knows this is OK.
  13. Support Learners and Learning: Posts and comments should be supportive and kind, especially to beginners. Rules 1 and 2 (posts must be about C and no images of code) will be enforced, but it is not allowed to be rude to people just because they are beginners or don't understand something.
  14. This rule also means you should be thoughtful in how you respond to people who know the language but don't understand more advanced topics.
  15. Avoid low-value/low-effort comments and posts (and use AI wisely): If your post or comment is low-value or low-effort it may get removed.
  16. If you are worried your request for help may fall under this rule, show the work you already did to solve your own problem.
  17. Low effort includes both AI-generated code you clearly didn't bother to try to understand, and comments like "^ This".
  18. If your comment/post gets removed under this rule and other content wasn't, don't be surprised, we only have a limited amount of time to spend on moderating.
