Subreddit Rules
  1. BARPod Relevance: Submissions need to be related to the podcast, or a topic specifically discussed in the podcast, or at the very least, a specific topic that Jesse or Katie have recently discussed somewhere else. Avoid posting general identity politics issues or the latest firestorm of the day (hour) that's not in some way tied to a specific topic they addressed. If the relevance is not obvious at first glance, please add some text explaining the connection to the podcast.
  2. outright insults of other commenters or swearing at one another. Try to refrain from open hostility that derails the quality of the conversation. For a more elaborate explanation of this policy, see the "Courtesy guidelines" below. Anyone who receives more than three civility suspensions may be subject to a permanent ban.
  3. No Outrage Porn
  4. posts whose sole purpose is to highlight some idiotic incident or behavior on the Left or Right. (For example, DO NOT post the latest outrageous example of cancel culture in action.) The only exceptions are if it's directly related to something they discussed on a podcast, or if there's a broader point being made with the post and the article is being used as a jumping off point to the broader issue.
  5. Link Submissions: Posts that are links to articles or videos without any explanation will be removed. When posting a link, please add a paragraph explaining what the article/video is about and why you think it is of interest to the BARPod community.
  6. No Twitter Drama
  7. posts that are primarily about some Twitter feud that Jesse or Katie are getting embroiled in. Keep that toxic shit away from here. If some twitter beef was specifically discussed on the podcast then any posts should be made in the thread dedicated to that episode. Also, do not repost tweets from Jesse or Katie that are not relevant to podcast discussions.
  8. Trans Topics: Threads around trans topics are subject to removal at the arbitrary discretion of the mods. This sub is not meant to be a replacement for r/GenderCritical! Because of the overzealous reddit policies around this subject, discussions around this topic can put the sub at risk (even when there is nothing genuinely objectionable) and so any such threads will be monitored carefully, and possibly removed or locked if the mods deem it necessary.
  9. Podcast Suggestions: Suggestions for podcasts should be made in the sticked weekly discussion thread at the top of the subreddit, not in their own thread.
  10. New Users: If you are a new commenter here there will be a stricter standard of civility applied. There will be a lower tolerance for rudeness or snark or low-value contributions if you are a relatively new account or someone who has never posted on this sub before. Accounts that have consistently low karma will be expunged.
