Subreddit Rules
- Only share BMW related content: This sub-reddit is dedicated to everything related to BMW vehicles, tuning, racing, motorsport, and the community of BMW drivers around the world. Please only submit content obviously related to those topics. Video games, AI generated content, customer service type complaints, and speculative renders are not considered related.
- No politics/religion/etc: In general, discussion of religion, politics, and topics that typically just end in a shit slinging contest are prohibited. Discussion of policy is permitted. We are here to talk about BMW's, not what the other party did last Tuesday at the polls.
- Homophobia/racism/bigotry will result in an immediate permanent ban.
- Be respectful: Abusive comments will be subject to removal. Criticism of a car is tolerated, however must not venture into the realm of personal attacks. Continued abuse will result in bans, and then a permanent ban. Please remember to follow [reddiquette](http://code.reddit.com/wiki/help/reddiquette).
- Threats of violence or hate of any kind will not be tolerated, breaks [reddit's content policy](https://www.redditinc.com/policies/content-policy), and will result in immediate permanent bans.
- No excessive self-promotional posts/comments: We ask that self promotional posts be limited to one submission per 24 hours, and that you actually participate in our community. Treating this community as a view farm is not tolerated, and will get the domain blacklisted. Posts that violate the 24 hour rule will get *both* posts removed.
- To combat link/content farmers, we ask that no more than 40% of your Reddit wide posts be promotional, and your first post to this sub CANNOT BE PROMOTIONAL**
- The spirit of this rule should be respected.
- No reposts within 48 hours: Avoid reposting the same content that has been posted in the last 48 hours. For instance, we don't need 5 separate posts on the same topic simply because different auto journalists posted them.
- Moderators reserve discretion to determine what is a repost. Leniency on posting about the same topic is typically given when new models are released.
- No low effort, vague, or RTFM style questions: Posts, including titles, must include a useful amount of context and information, and cannot be easily Google-able or RTFM style questions. While this sub aims to be helpful, posters are required to at least do a minimal amount of leg work themselves.
- No ads, spam, or buying and selling of any kind
- advertising, blogspam, shotgunning links in a short period of time, etc. Spamming is cause for an immediate ban and domain/channel blacklisting. Ads will result in immediate permanent ban.
- In a similar vein, we do not allow buying or selling of anything. Your post will be removed
- affiliate links, personal crowdfunding, MLM's, etc. If you are asking for buying advice, make it clear that you are asking for help, not asking for buyers/sellers.
- No NSFW/NSFL content: Nudity and/or straight up porn will result in post removal.
- NSFL posts will result in an *immediate* permanent ban.
- No trolling or baiting: Behaviors such as vulgar language, comment spam, or extremely NSFW language or material to earn sharp emotional responses will earn bans. If you disagree with someone, don't try to bait them into behavior that they would regret. If you think you are the victim of flaming or baiting, report the behavior instead of responding.
- No memes/shitposting: Memes or shitposts will be subject to removal. Repeated reposts will be removed at moderator team discretion.
- Photo credits and social media: All links or mentions of social medial handles should be via comments or the body of the post. If your post is not your own original image or vehicle, credit the owner as a comment or in the body of the post.
- No shitty car mod/upbadge posts: Hunting for upbadging/"shitty/trashy" mods is not tolerated. These types of posts are almost always purely to ridicule the owner and is a personal attack per se.
- Take such discussions to /r/upbadging and /r/shittycarmods. If you are genuinely trying to identify a car, /r/whatcaristhis and /r/namethatcar can help.
- Continued behavior will result in suspensions.
- Listed circlejerk topics belong in circlejerk thread: Not everyone wants to keep seeing the same circlejerk material over and over, especially months into what triggered the circlejerk. All low effort memes, rants, "DAE think BMW lost their way", etc, will be subject to removal if not posted in the circlejerk topic after it has been added to the list.
- See list [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/BMW/wiki/circlejerk-list/)
- Promotion of reckless driving/illegality: We do not condone nor wish to give publicity to those who are seeking attention through reckless driving. Posting reckless driving to call out shitty driving is permitted - however, posts for the purpose of going "look how cool I am, I'm so reckless" will be subject to removal.
- Additionally, discussion of illegal activities for the purposes of committing said activities is not permitted.
- No accident repair questions: Posts asking insurance related or accident repair related questions are not what this sub is for. Do not post questions asking if your car is totaled, how much it would cost to repair your car after an accident, etc.
