- Self-Diagnosis is Valid: Many autistic people have not been diagnosed, and cannot get diagnosed because they've learned to mask so well, or because their doctor thinks if they have empathy they can't be autistic, or if they're AFAB and ergo invisible to the diagnostic community. Self-diagnosis is valid here, and anyone using someone's self-diagnosis to invalidate them will be asked to apologize or leave.
- No Functioning Labels: The language around autism has changed a lot over the years, and that can be hard to keep up with - but one change that I'd like to ask users here to respect is avoiding functioning labels. "High Functioning" vs "Low Functioning" is reductive, and erases invisible struggles.
- Instead, try using "High Support Needs" and "Low Support Needs" - these reframe the conversation in a way that is more inclusive of our diversity.
- No misinformation
- vaccines cause autism no Tylenol/paracetamol cause autism etc any malicious spreading of misinformation will result in penalties
- No political posts: Please don’t post anything to do with politics on this sub you can go to r/autismpolitics if you want to discuss politics
- No self promotion or surveys without permission: As the title says we do not allow self promotion or surveys without permission from the moderators. If you want to get permission, you can message us in mod mail.
- No AI content
- AI content (except where used as a tool to aid written communication by users requiring such assistance).
- This is not a dating sub, please do not creep on others: Exactly what it sounds like. Trying to pick up or make sexual or romantic overtures towards other sub users, or making "bait" posts so that you can do so in the comments, are not acceptable here.
