- Identification posts: All Amanita ID requests must contain location (country/state/etc — please avoid abbreviations as this is an international subreddit!), as well as clear up-close and in-focus pictures showing the cap, cap margin, gills, stipe, and intact stipe base, in situ in sunlight. If you are commenting with an ID suggestion but are not 100% sure, please clarify with words like “could be” or “compare to”. Please no joke ID suggestions. Do not comment unless you are experienced in mushroom identification.
- “Death cap” / “Looks white/scary”: Most of the mushrooms this subreddit deals with have a yellow pileus coloration that fades to white. Please do not suggest the identification of “death cap” or “destroying angel” unless you can also point out which specific features are leading you to that conclusion (gill/annulus/stipe/volva appearance etc). Do not insinuate the OP’s mushroom is deadly unless you are experienced in mushroom identification. If your comment does not contain these specifics it will be removed.
- Do not make bad overused jokes: Please do not make bad overused jokes such as "All mushrooms are edible once" or "That's a mushroom"
- Be respectful of the moderation team: Please do not argue with or mock/condescend the moderators. We are doing our best to facilitate a learning environment.
